robb_o
Do i replace it with another D521 (now EX721), or go for the Alex (they look cheap on tarty)...?The main thing putting me off is that the Alex is heavier. Also i'm gonna have to spend more money on spokes. Will the Alex rim require more frame clearance for the tyre??I'm not sure my Pashley has much space left. robb_o
Yes I was happy with it, but I could be HAPPIER with the Alex?
gianttrials
what about a planet-x or sun rim? other choices that are probably lighter an abit different from the norm.
CurtisRider
if you feel the need for more width the alex rim is a great rim, personally id stick with the d521, they are silly good
robb_o
I was hoping for loads of excellents comments about the Alex. But no1 seems fussed so i'm guessing it's not all that good.
kaar3l
Alex DX32- wider, more stable on rear wheel, strenght is ok, i have been running one 2 or 3 years for now and it has no dents only one flatspot. Good material for grinds, holds grinds very well.
robb_o
what's the braking surface like WITHOUT a grind?
maxxis26
i got alex dx32 with 15mm drilled holes and a d521 on the frons with 5mm drillsid go for the dx32 wider and feels more solid and planted when on the back wheeli changed from the d521 on my saracen to a dx32 and it felt way betteri use tar rather than a grind and it lasts for a good week before i have to put more on Edited June 13, 2007 by maxxis26
c3jae
ive used both rims many times before and if only mavic made there rims wider, i dont think there would be a better rim on the market! Mavics also build REALLY well, and from my experiance grind ever better!!!, but the dx32 is my personal faveorite "wide" rim, these grind just as well as the mavic and i never have any problems building them, although i DONT think they are eyelited (is that right?), but i cant say ive found that a problem, ive got friends who run these with every other spoke missing,(32 hole rim 36 hole hub) and they still sware by this rim, look out for alex dx32xlite phatsoplanet x bmfOld skool onza rim in redmegamo(same rim with holes)All of the above are the SAME rim, so any of these would be fine:)to some up:d521 FANTASTIC rim, but far to thin for trials dx32, amazing rim from my experiance.
