rudirudirudirudirudi
you need to unscrew it anticlockwise i think well just think about it like this, when it was first put on it would tighten up as you pedel.

PaRtZ
some people say use the freezing + boiling water technique but that NEVER works for me in any instance. Drown it in wd40Grip the cog in a vice. Maybe stick some thick blocks of wood in and squash the cog so that it sticks into the wood?Get a hollow iron/steel bar/rod to slide over your cranksGet pushing!!!Needless to say, the bigger the bar, the more leverage youll have Failing this, you could always drill holes in the cog, nail the bugger to some wood or fix it down either way and then stick that in the vice
King C
I've never tried this but what about wrapping an old bit of chain around the cog and boshing that in the vice?
PaRtZ
I've never tried this but what about wrapping an old bit of chain around the cog and boshing that in the vice?what would the chain actually do though? Ive heard that old chestnut too
King C
I think the chain gives the cog a flat surface for the vice to grip kinda thing. So the vice grips the flat links and not just the round cog. Also if it does work it will save his cog, but then again so would a piece of wood if used correctly.Just a thought. Never tried it myself as I've never had the need. Yet.

Token
I've never tried this but what about wrapping an old bit of chain around the cog and boshing that in the vice?I watched some guy put the crank in a vice, put a chain whip over the cog and then use all of his 18 stone didn't budge at all. More than likely cold fused.Copper grease is where it's at, life's problems would be solved if everyone used copper grease! Please children, please. Use copper grease.
