Is there an actuall difference in Front and rear BB7 calipers?

Most times fromt and rear difference would be the lever and the length oh cable/hose.

Looking for a BB7 ive noticed they sell them front/rear specific.

Is there a difference in the calipers, mounts or rotors that make this?

I dont care about levers, as I have one I want to use

It's just the mounts, the front ones have a bigger mount (+20mm) so to run a front 185 on the back you'd need a disc that was 205mm.

I think I've got that the right way around. Either way, you can buy the mount adapters separately.

EDIT: Yeah I've got that the wrong way round I think.

Yes, a 180mm FRONT bracket is a 160mm REAR

A FRONT BB7 bracket is +20mm when used as a REAR

Just for improved clarity :)

to answer you're question mr teeth, no a 203mm rear is a 223 front (Y)

s'wrong guys......

its the OTHEDR way round.

partz, your first bit is right, a 180 front setup will run on a 160mm rear disc.

a 203mm rear brake setup would need a 223mm front rotor to run up front.

take any brake, of and given size. for rear fitting, that calliper will always need a 20mm smaller disc, than if used up front.

this is of course for IS standard mounts.

the rear disc mounts are closer to the axle than the fronts.
