on that? u must be joking
I bought one of these Blackspire chain devices second hand off a mate and it was superb. There just isn't any way for the chain to come out at all. Bit pricey brand new thoughAndy
RobinJI
Yeah, blackspiers are amazing, I've been running one for over a year now and not lost the chain a single time. .If you go for the DMRs then go for the chain cage first. Just a chain case is a lot more effective than just a lower roller, as the lower roller will only really help when back pedaling, and the DMR ones tend to be a bit flexy, so will allow the chain to still come off if you're unlucky. So yeah, basically go for a chain cage, and maybe the roller later, or save a bit, and buy a full, twin plate style chain device, as they're the best things ever! I probably trust my blackspire more than any other part on my bike!
TomR
Ah cool cheers for the info. And yeah, i'd love a blackspire/e13/MRP but they're too pricey really, it's only a play bike so im doing things half on the cheap
Trials Punk
Its usually the bottom half of the chain which tends to fall off the most as theres not much tension applied to it. I'd go with just the bottom half for now and see how you get on. You could always try and go down the route of running two slim bashguards to wedge the chainring in between. Or just buy a chainring with this already done, where I'm not sure.
