fyfey
I have a front Zoo! hub and a rear one (20" spacing). I was tightening the rear bolts up and one of the heads of the bolts sheared off!I ordered a set of the Echo/Zoo/Adamant etc bolts off TartyBikes. I didn't think to check but the bolts in the rear hub are much thinner than the ones in the front. My mate has an Echo rear hub on his stock and they use the beefy bolts... is it just the 20" ones that use these flimsy bolts??If so, which bolts do I need? Is there a way to make the larger hollow bolts to work on the rear hub?Cheers,Fyfey

RobinJI
Sounds like you're hubs the older kind with a hollow QR style axle that has M6 bolts threaded into each end, in which case you want one of these. Should be pretty obvious from looking at the one on the other side of the hub really. Or if it is one of those then you could just re-use the washer part and replace the bolt with any old high grade M6 bolt.
fyfey
It's practically a brand new hub, pretty annoying paying £75 for a hub that has the "old" style axle. Here's a couple of pics...Bolts:Hub:Is there any way to change the axle to a beefier one? The M6 bolts look puny compared!
RobinJI
Not that I know of. To be fair the bolts are fine. I've been running them for ages in my 24" with horizontals, and the wheel never moves or anything. Just do them up sensibly.
powerz
I had the same prob my bolt snaped right of in the hub so after removing it i ordered the ones from tarty for like £6 then got em through and they were far to big, after ringing tarty they said "send em back and you just need the standard onza type bolts as your hub is one of the rare ones" our hubs axle stick through the frames dropouts where as the other style axle the beafy bolts sit through the frame dropouts if you know what i mean.think you will find these are what will fit http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?id=10057I thought the same thing that paying £75 for a hub and you get the socal rare one or inother words one of the duff ones is annouying as i keep rounding the stupid lil bolts of and snapping em half in the hub.i brought the onza ones from tarty and the next day one bolt sheared of in the huband the other bolt showed signs of stretching in the same place. so i browsed through screwfixit and brought 50 for like £3 Edited June 5, 2007 by powerz
RobinJI
Yeah, the ones that come with the onza things are utter shite, made of cheese. Just get them for the serated washer, and buy yourself some high grade stainless M6 bolts to go in there.

fyfey
Would Titanium bolts be any better do you think? Surely better than the Onza bolts anyway. There's some on Tarty for £9 a pair, I might give them a go - LinkCheers for the input
