N.Wood
also cycle lanes do not have to be used..and riding them on a road bike is madness. Why is it madness?Using a bike on a cycle lane seems pretty sensible to me.I dunno where you live, but in my non-shit part of the country, cycle lanes are smoother than the roads. Hendrix
I've got a pucker Touring Bike.... skinny tires. Fastest thing I've ridden to the day... cops on bikes can't match it at all, is pretty awesome to sprint on
N.Wood
Ever ridden XC on a trials bike? that's what it feels like to ride a road bike on a cycle path...I dunno where you live, but in my non-shit part of the country, cycle lanes are smoother than the roads.I can only go on my own experience... Cycles lanes round here are smoother than the roads.

Fixed Pantsâ„¢
Had a go on my mates fixxie today, pretty normal experience, weird it being fixed though. So f**king light too, probably half the weight of my trials bike. Edited June 5, 2007 by Fat Pants
will
All cycle paths and alleys around here are rammed of smashed glass and thorns. Example. I cycled to work through the alleyways and cycle paths for a week because of roadworks. I suffered 5 punctures in 4 days. Spent more time fixing them than I did actually getting anywhere! Pashley26
All the cycle lanes in g-town are shit, i can't ride my pashley to work becouse it's to slow for the roads and the cycle paths are crap ! there ________________________________________________________ That wide and are infested with joggers and dog walkers, but there two laned so bikes go on one side and walkers on another side that wide.........when i ride my road bike to work i average 33mph (28 if i cut out the hill in front of the sports center) and seeing as the speed limit on the roads i cycle is 30mph i don't see a problem with the using the roads.Jarrod
PaRtZ
I'm pretty nonplussed by them, but one thing that annoys me is when they use the road rather than dedicated cycle paths.Theres a long, straight-ish road near me thats a 40mph limit, and has a dedicated path set away from the road for cyclists. Not only is it there for the safety of the riders (i know i've never done under 45mph on that road, its too long and straight) but also when they're riding at less than 20mph, you have to slow down and try and wait for a break in the oncoming cars to pass them. This pisses me off. They seem arrogant.me too. dont understand it. governments just spent thousands if not millions of pounds doing this so cyclists are safer and they just turn their noses up at it.... damn disrespectful to be honestok just read page 2 loli still think roadies should make the effort. by me the cycle path has proper lines, meaning motorists can't wait on them and have to give them right of way

The road is usually full of holes and have double drains in som places making you ride into the middle of the road to dogde em.Rode jays bike to work today to get a feel for a road bike, and f**k meee it was fast and smooth!Did 30 racing a bus, almost died like but it was fun lolReally tempted to get one now, only thing stopping me is the fast my spine felt like it had been torn out after a while.Oh, and our cycle lanes are actually on the road, not like these shite ones they put on the pavement. We have that on the promenade though, people moan at you for riding in a cycle lane and not moving for them. Rode into some guy the other week on purpose, dick.
