The Duck
I just tried to do my first service on my profile. Cleaned all the pawls, springs and other internals and re-lubed it all back together with Halfrauds cycle oil in the hope that it would be a bit louder. I don't know if it just needs time to bed in (?) or i just shouldn't of used what I used. The only reason i tried it is because i thought i remembered reading it somewhere...Anyway, two questions;1. Should i=I take it apart and re-do it?2. If so, what shall I lube it with?Any help would be much appreciated!!I did search by the way... ogre
i don't have profile, eno ***. but i use chain oil on the ratchest + stuff, be stingy as fook with and do it often 'cause the oils thinner than grease, etc.
joe b
Oil/lube makes it quieter. Think about it... the more lubrication it has in it the more cushion the pawls will get when they flick over the ratchets (if you get me).If you want it louder then remove all the oil . But, if you do this, remember to lube it up a little every 3 or 4 months or less to make sure everything is in working order!Cheers,Joe. Mat Smith!
Stretch the springs and run it through with WD40 or similar, then clean all that greasy shit out, then put it together, and ride around pedaling backwards n stuff to bed it in.Mat
ogre
-->QUOTE(joe b @ Jun 3 2007, 05:09 PM) ←Oil/lube makes it quieter.yeah but putting a bit in, not so you can see it gumming up where springs+pawls sit, just so eveything looks a bit shinnier can't affect it that much
