aener
Right - Been watching videos, then riding.Noticed that in videos, when they go for a sidehop - they'll stall on the back wheel for a bit, then go.I tend to stay on both wheels next to the wall, mini-pedal hop onto the back wheel (moves forwards about 8"), sink down into the bike, and then go straight away.Is the first method more effective or something?Everyone seems to use it.I tried searching, but couldn't find anything. Is it a technique you just find more useful when you gain experiance?Flipp
Davetrials
i think its to erm gather your "chi"
basher
It is a usefull technique for awquard take offs like on a bollard or something or if you ride natural because you cant just do one hop and then go. But generally you can go high with one hop and the go for it because your carrying momentum, but some people like me dont like one hop technique because i just find it as if your rushing i like to compose meself first by hopeing on back wheel and then going for it. James Quigley
I think it gives you a few extra milli-seconds to get your body position and balance just right before you go for it.
Greetings
I think that if you watch vids of people who are really good at sidehops (Benito, TRA, Marco G) you'll realize that the technique you use is no way inferior to stalling on the rear wheel. Actually, it's probably much better seeing as all the recent world records for sidehopping over a bar have been set that way.
aener
Been thinking it's probably easier, due to only having to tihnk about side to side balance - rather than all ways.I'll start practicing both, so that I have the capability when I come to bollards etc. Thanks people All cleared up. TrashZen
i think its to erm gather your "chi"that's how Id' define it. It lets you decide exactely how much compression before the pedal kick etc... and focuse for the "chi", even if we 're not all barking mad when riding... PaRtZ
I dont pedal kick when I do it simply because it puts me more off balance. I do a small boon to finalize my balance, and then I go for it
Gavyn.
one hop and up seems to work better on a mod, tra, benito, keita and comas all do it that way. On a stock though most of the best seem to do a few hops then stall before they preload.
