Has anyone seen my shoe?
I recognise the avatar but that could be used by two different people. Its stupid, surely the surface just becomes flat again after a while of braking? Dan6061
It's just scratched the rim a bit.

Has anyone seen my shoe?
What is actually making the cuts into the rim?
ben_travis
But this guy hasn't gotten anywhere by trying...he has got groves on his rim which will improve his braking over a non-ground rim. It improves rim lifespan, and also improves his braking....that is more than can be said about a grinding disc grind. he says in his post on OTN that his brakes have improved significantly.... Has anyone seen my shoe?
Id say that too Edited May 31, 2007 by Has anyone seen my shoe?
kid creole
I basically did this when i first started but i just used a screw driver to scribe groves into the rim all the way round. It didn't make any differents to braking power so i just went and bought a angle grinder.
Mike W
I thought a hand grinder was a hacksaw whats wrong with using an angle grinder you can get the for like 10 quid so its not really a money saving idea. meh mike

MikeCottTrials
I think its a good idea if he could find a way to make the grooves deeper
ben_travis
so you'll be throwing out the grinder and investing??nope, i just dont see the point in only seeing the negative side like so many have done.he claims his brake works better then it did before (from his pictures it was smooth) so why flame him?just a thought. Walleee
because he's justifying his idea's in the way he is!! have you read what he's said?
Greetings
Not a bad idea. It can be really handy when your stranded in the middle of the desert and desperately need more braking power.

Tomm
It's still there. It's the way he's coming up with a solution to no problem whatsoever. He's never even used an angle grinder and he's still trying to improve on the idea. I mean Jesus, angle grinders do a perfect job in no time at all and they're really cheap. What more would you want?
