I was wondering if it was possible to use Hope Brakepump on a HS33 brake... removing the magurapump etc....

If it in theory is possible........does the threads fit?

If its not possible......why?

You'd need to use a C2 lever, as the existing Magura setup is a closed system and the new Mono/Mini systems are open.

Contact Pete Wright for any help, he did it.

yeah would have to be the open C2 lever, with the tpa adjuster like thing on the well.

it is possible, but it feels sooooo bad, its not worth doing! You will have to find some new seals to suite mineral oil to go in the hope lever. The piston ratio is so small that the lever is spongy as hell and you have to have the pads setup pratically touching the rim the whole time.

either get a maggie or deng brake, or be extra happy and get a vee.

It can and has been done with a C2 lever, as said or an XC4 lever. You would have to use a crossover style barbed fitting on the main hose which should connect straight to the C2 lever if there the straight fitting. Or you could use a shimano 90deg fitting on the maggie hose for the XC4 lever. Also the system would need to be run with water, due to hopes using dot 5.1 and maggies using mineral oil.

The main problem however is that maggie's use a 15mm master cylinder if I remember right, while hopes only use something like a 12 in the old levers, so there is a much higher mechanical advantage. While this should mean immense hold and power, It also means your rim has to be impracticaly straight, and you'd need one serious booster!

If you've got the bits lying around give it a go, but don't be too disappointed if its not amazing. (Y)
