dont force it:P

steer clear of split links:P

Exactly, its not hard to join a chain, slide the link out, place the chain in place and screw the link back in... if it gets overly tight lossen off, give it a wiggle to settle it in place and proceed to slide through.

Its tits that join it wonky and snap half the pin head/link hole off that snap them so much. My last kool withstood a solid 2 years of riding and had been joined hundreds of times.

Kool!

And never re-join the chain use the split link!

got it in one!

kool chains have mushroomed pins which they mushroom AFTER they are assembled with the links. this means that u stretch the metal of the outer link when u push the pin through...

what chain splitter tool do u use, mines only cheap but its seems to be soo fekin hard and takes ages and breaks the chain splitter tool.or is it jst that my chain is gettin old and brittle

Callum

Mine cost £3, but is the same one a local bike shop had been using for 4 years when i bought it. Its lasted me just under 5 years now and will split/join anything, even the silly huge kmc chains.

Kool!

I've got about 12 of those in my toolbox that have snapped.... i wouldn't trust them at all.

Its not so much that the links stretch, its that the mushroom bit gets sheared off. If you join it back together straight the outer link doesn't get stretched at all and fits the pin nicely.
