What's Your Job?

Last summer I was working for a multinational insurance broker doing a bit of admin to pay off my overdraft. Was rather dull and repetitive but on the plus side I got to read about some pretty amusing/ stupid insurance claims. Even got one photo sent in of a blooded, severed hand as evidence for a 'chainsaw malfunction' incident! The guy actually seemed pretty proud of it from the way he wrote his letter! I'm presuming he used the other hand when writing it :-

Just got a new job for when I finish uni at Norwich City Council (the same council that denied planning permission to build a statue of Alan Partridge in the city ). My job title is 'Business Planning Assistant', not even entirely sure what that is myself after the interview! Glorified admin possibly, but its only for 6 months and good pay.

What I want to do is get on Dragons Den then setup my own company :P

I went £4.39 over my overdraft limit, and got charged £20 for going over my overdraft, and then got charged £30 for making a payment which put me over my overdraft (which is the same thing). As a result, I got charged £50 for going £4 over my overdraft for less than 12 hrs.

Bit harsh.

Anyways, how do we mortals go about getting this list? I've got my statement which has the charges detailed on it, and they haven't even taken the money yet, so what would you suggest?

All you've got to do is find out your bank's head office address (or even your local branch's) and send them a letter with your Name, Address, Account or Roll number (d/numbers..) and explain that you would like to have access to the information that the bank hold regarding charges to your account. Expalin that if they cannot give a list of these charges, copy statements will suffice.

Also, you expect to be contacted with this information within 40 days or will seek a remidy from the Financial Ombudsman.

If you want any more help give me a shout on msn.

Job-wise, I'm a student in London, but over the summer I'm a general assistant in our halls. Cleaning, fixing, etc. - £5.67 an hour and free accommodation in the centre of London, which was the deal clincher. As a result, I should be able to save a decent amount over the summer which would be nice for the two trips to Barcelona planned in October :S

That sounds sick as f**k. Free housing is always a winner.

Jen told me about one of those trips too, she said she wants to get a bike built up for it!

Health and Safety Officer/Manager. Pretty decent job, but wanting to go self employed with it or go down another career path in a few years and come back to it if all else fails.

Wanting to do consultancy with it really, going from business to business and basically sorting out health and safety/welfare/personnel procedures OR work for an insurance company doing audits. Awaiting my IOSH status currently and then to a degree to gain CIOSH status in a few years....If I choose that path of course.

Another one of the Halfords crew.

Seem to be a hell of a lot of trials riders working in Halfords across the country (well, BikeHut)! especially considering they don't even do any good trials stuff. haha, we should all gang up and make them! I mean, there's 3 of us just in Taunton!

So you do what exactly?

I am an abnormal loads officer, which is about heavy/wide loads going over bridges. I was on a bridge inspection and rowing between bridges, because we couldn't be arsed packing up the dingy to go from one bridge to another that day. I got the short straw and had to row :)
