Basically I got to all the small local companies who just sell rubbish stuff like Bush, Goodmans all that, and try and convince them to part with thier money and open an account with Sony so that they can sell our products and make more money for themselves. The money is ok and the people I work with are class. I get to see and take home all the new stuff before you lot and go to the odd trade show! The last one was in Lisburn and was awesome! Currently got a US spec Blu-Ray player on loan in my lounge and the new 8gb video walkman, both of which are amazing! Hoping to be promoted up to international sales in the next year or so and start earning some proper spondooleys and get another Bullmastiff! It's more than my mates are on and lets me earn some cash while at sixth form.I hope www.electric-riders.tk isn't anything to go by. It makes my eyes bleed.the glory days of it being cheap at £35 an hour are over then?For me it wasn't worth the hassle then and it sure as shit wouldn't be now. I honestly admire people who can stick at freelance web development - I really didn't get on with it.And yeah. If you're having a party, exhibition, carnival, i'm the man to insure it!Its easy doss office work, 9 - 5.30pm, £6.50 p/h through a temping agency. Can't complain Working up until August time then i'll have a few weeks off before uni in Sept - Bournemouth studying Applied Geography, YEEEAH!Been very interesting reading about everyones exciting lives!! I came on as an apprentice engineer in 2001, but after hurting my knee last year, i wasn't riding, so i decided to volunteer for a 4 till midnight shift where i would suprvise contract workers with the installation of Broadband equipment in BT exchanges for BT, Orange, Sky, Talk Talk, Tiscali, Bulldog and a few other ISP's. That evolved into training the contractors, and teaching them on the job, monitoring them and reporting back to BT boss's and contract boss's. As that came to an end my boss owed me for volunteering and digging them out of the shit, so he asked what he could do, and i said he could keep me on the same hours. For the last 6 months i have been on a team moving between different projects all over the North, from Mass migration jobs (when people sign up to BT, then find out Sky is better, they all leave BT and need swapping over, so the 'migrate' from BT, all at once, hence the 'mass migration'), to working as a quality assessor where i go all over carrying out audits on exchange work carried out by engineers etc.In the quiet times between projects i fix Broadband exchange faults, so if you have a problem with your line or your broadband it's me that'll be on the blower to you when it's working again.Not to sound like a dick, but it's the best job in the world! I get flexi-hours, good holidays, good pay, my work van, the best, most trustworthy boss ever, good pension, good share price & free shares, cheap flights/holiday's/insurance/shop prices etc, and a job where i can go in each day and get a totally different task to do. One day i could be teaching Romanian contractors, and i could turn up expecting the same, only to be asked if i wanted to do a new project where i Drive around the North west auditing engineers, or doing electrical tests, or measuring the dB loss on new Broadband circuits that are being tried out.Not to mention the fact that i've been off sick with my knee since march on full pay lol.Very happy with my job, and reccomend anyone to get into BT if they get the chance.Bongo Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It pays pretty well for 16, and its usually an easy and enjoyable job.In the summer I'm working at a local bike shop, which I can't wait for because they do my bike bits and I'm really friendly with the people who work in there. Has its good and bad days (although mostly bad). Work 8.5 hrs plus a day with no proper break (unless im really really lucky) have to eat and work at the same time; which is fun when you are surrounded by chemicals... 5 days a week. And before I worked there, there were two people doing the job I now do on my own, so effectivley I am doing double the normal workload. And get paid peanuts for it as well... Tomm Posted May 30, 2007 Report Share Posted May 30, 2007 These are my two 'jobs'Mostly I'm a medical student (just finished my 4th year) which involves some long hours and a decent amount of work, but I'm actually doing a different degree next year (BSc in Physiology) just for the sheer fun of it. Which means I'll be more like a normal student and hopefully have a bit more free time, instead of being a final year medical student which will be a royal pain in the arse 8-5 most days + some nights with no pay, and some nice exams at the end. In the summer I work as a medical secretary for an agency in Manchester. It's seriously the best job I can think of. Basically because I know quite a lot about medicine and I know the language, I can work as a secretary - typing out what doctors have dictated. If you're a normal person and you want to do this, you have to go on courses and stuff and it's not cheap, but I didn't have to. So basically I get a decent wage for doing easy work. Basically I spend all day servicing aeroplanes but it's far more interesting than it probably sounds. Although i'm at the bottom now, with a couple of years experience I will become a licensed certifying technician and will then be able to certify aircraft to go back into flight. The license will allow me to work pretty much anywhere in the Commonwealth and the job at the moment is a highly sought after one globally so the opportunities are pretty much endless. As with any job there's a rubbish side to it but the future potential currently outways any doubts that I have now made the right career decision. I'm technically in Customer Relations but do data processing and management of DSAR (Data Subject Access Requests), mainly about excess bank charges that have been in the news recently. Essentially, if you've been charged stupid amounts £30ish for going over your overdraft limit or whatever, then you can claim them back, but you need to get hold of a list of charges first. Work Mon-Fri evenings only, £6 an hour so can't complain. Apart from our new manager Claire is a fanny and won't let us listen to iPods!I went £4.39 over my overdraft limit, and got charged £20 for going over my overdraft, and then got charged £30 for making a payment which put me over my overdraft (which is the same thing). As a result, I got charged £50 for going £4 over my overdraft for less than 12 hrs.Bit harsh.Anyways, how do we mortals go about getting this list? I've got my statement which has the charges detailed on it, and they haven't even taken the money yet, so what would you suggest?Job-wise, I'm a student in London, but over the summer I'm a general assistant in our halls. Cleaning, fixing, etc. - £5.67 an hour and free accommodation in the centre of London, which was the deal clincher. As a result, I should be able to save a decent amount over the summer which would be nice for the two trips to Barcelona planned in October I'm trying to make a break into the BMX photography world, which is slowly but surely happening.
