hes just using a weird set of torrents, the majority of stuff is in 1 file (well, strictly speaking no torrents are) but one "torrent" will download all parts.

theres an 80+gb james bond collection file on torrent damage for example :)

Nope, the great thing about Flashget the program in the pic is that all you do is highlight all the links as if you were highlightin shit in a word doc then press ctrl+c and it que's it up and downloads straight away. Works f**kin ace

The way parts work is that you download each part blah blah as stated above. Then unzip the first file n unzips the rest auto and joins it all together to make 1 file at the end.

my download is limited to 30kb/s all the time, no matter what.

even when it's set to 'unlimited', it like an auto limit or something.

if there any reason for this? any way i can change it?

i'm using uTorrent, and have 8mb unlimited internet.

static ip, ports open, all that jazz.

nevermind, it was cos i was being a dirty leecher and set my upload too low.

it's sorted now.

Seriouslyyyyyy give a rapdishare account a go please!

I'd agree with that.. not used it for downloading stuff but rapidshare and a good lot of links works well.

Newsgroups are also good, thats what I use. Almost as good as 0-sec FTPs but a lot cheaper.

BT Broadband + VPN = maxed speeds all day long on torrents. BT are gay as f**k on torrents, they cap speeds between 9ish(maybe slightly later but is def before mid day) and mignight. Before i connect to the VPN i get about 6 maybe 10 if im lucky, as soon as i connect to the VPN it maxes out my connection.

Try www.secureix.com and their 3day trial on the premium servers see if it solves your speed problems.

decided to go to the dark side a try a torrent:

post-710-1180686679_thumb.png

100mb in just over a minute (or whatever it says in elapsed)

it appears flashget works awesome even for these! This is also with all normal torrent ports blocked at the router (to stop gay housemates using them)

lol

Why can't you just open the ports up for your IP address?

And what exactly is FlashGet? Is it just an alternative to, say, utorrent, or is it more?

Manges downloads n stuff.

Internet Download Manager, what i have, lets you download certain types to certain folders, makes you more aware of what's being saved on your comp (myspactunes for example, it will let you choose whether or not you want to download the tune) etc... And lets you download from more than one connection, so like, you can have 4 8 or 16 connections going at once, which should make it faster (sorta hard to explain)

Description:

Internet Download Manager (IDM) is a tool to increase download speeds by up to 5 times, resume and schedule downloads. Comprehensive error recovery and resume capability will restart broken or interrupted downloads due to lost connections, network problems, computer shutdowns, or unexpected power outages. Simple graphic user interface makes IDM user friendly and easy to use.

Internet Download Manager v5.09 - The best way to handle your downloads and increase download speeds . Added full support for Windows Vista, IE7 and Firefox 2

Long story short, the fat housemate likes to be a nerd and assign his ip address to mine everytime he finds out what mine is. Therefore kicking me off my IP so windows auto changes it..etc.

Flashget is a download manager/torrent client all in one. So basically instead of downloading files through say IE or firefox.. you do it through flashget and it allows you to pause/resume downloads/multiple download files at once.

I first used it back when the koxx website was wank.. all the kiddies would be complaining about their 4kb/s whilst i was zooming through on the 6mb connection at 500kb/s because flashget splits files up in to smaller ones then starts downloading each of them.

So say 100mb file gets split down to like ten 10mb files. It then starts each of these at the gay koxx speed of 4kb/s which overall gives you a download speed for the 1 file of 40kb/s.

Rough figures.. but you get the idea.. it will just split the files up until it reaches your max bandwidth of say 500kb/s.

Give it a try atleast :)

Like i said.. pwnz when you have a rapdishare account. Im not a fan of utorrent etc.. they just absalutely drain bandwidth with their constant updating/uploading.
