Mat Smith!
I dunno if this will get closed or whatever really quickly, im just looking to see if anybody knows anyway of making it faster? i know all about the seeds etc, and I've got a good one, its just running at 7kbps on a 2mb line, usually getting around 250kbps just from downloading videos etc.Are they usually this slow? because it's taking me about 2hrs for a 80mb file lol.If it's against the rules close it, thanks.Matx
tomturd
Requesting illegal software/music/videos is against the rules, tips on setting up a program is ok I'd get uTorrent and enable encryption if I were you, also open the correct ports on your router if you have one.Apart from that I can't help.. don't use torrents (too slow and I can never get them to go fast either )

Haz
I am, and it happens to me.Any reason for the slowness? My dads started to make me pay for the net (fair nuff) so I said I wanted a say in which ISP etc, I've always had bad speeds with BT, even with encryption.Anyway of speeding it up? James Quigley
I'm not sure exactly how but I hear it's faster if you forward your ports. (Ask Smo on here he sorted mine).Topic shouldn't get closed as you can download legal files via torrents. Also you may just have a couple of seeds active or maybe the upload rates of the seeds is slow, either way have fun. Dan Clark
http://www.portforward.comFollow the instructions there, it'll help a lot. Also public sites have shit speed in general, I usually top out my connection on private ones, 450kbps average from torrents ***
Si-man
You need to do port forwarding.ThereDo that, put the port you want into the preferences of the torrent downloader and voilla. You slag haha, just beat me. Si-man
Has he actually set a pass though??routers have a set pass where you can just press enter to access it.try that 1st
Haz
Definately has a password. And it's notAdminAdminlike it was before...
Lawnmowerman
Put your ip address into the taskbar and press enter. The user name and pass should both be admin.
Walleee
ok well i don't bother with that port forwarding crap and frequently download lost in 20 minutes on a 2mb line.I use utorrent and allow my upload to be about 85% of my full capacity, that means I can still send out requests for more sources and browse (albeit slowly) Download speeds don't really need capped but torrent's work on a sharing basis, the faster you upload the faster you will download. Also seeds and peers is a big factor in torrents, if you have 100 seeds on dial up, it's still gona take forever, I find updating the tracker the odd time can help to bump speeds up.If you don't mind keeping a rato of 1 or above, I recommend you try torrentbully, it's a site where all the latest tv shows and movies are posted, you hav to register, but they keep it free from site, and you can get e-mailed when the latest ep of your fav shows is released. but yeh my experiance shows that uploading at a decent rate is about the best thing you can do. Mat Smith!
enter the lowest number of that range into the Start Port box. Then enter the highest number of that range into the Finish Port box. CONFUSED? I dunno what too put here.Mat

dirtbiker
For those of us not in the know, how do you go about using private trackers? Any particular sites anyone recommends? Edited May 29, 2007 by dirtbiker
PaRtZ
may sound like a very obvious thing, but is your download speed restricted? I was getting frustrated for months that a torrent with 54 seeders wouldn't download faster than 9kb/s until i realised my download speed max was 10 kb/scheck that first
Dan Clark
For private sites you generally need invites from people who have them.
Haz
What sort of private site do you want? Music, Films, Porn, General Stuff?I have invites for a very good release forum. But I'm not going to give them to anybody, I'll give 'em to the people I trust. Because if you leech more than you seed, I could get banned aswell. Dan Clark
Same, I don't give invites out to people I don't trust, because generally, people who don't know about specific private sites and why they want invites aren't gonna seed and won't have a clue in general.
