gianttrials
Hi so I am going to go to the gym just to get a bit stronger to help me lift my bike more keep the comments coming thanks alexto be honest with you i'd wait a couple of years before you go to the gym an do resistance, just ride more you'll soon get stronger, or do core exercises like press-ups, ab-curls, chins, lunges, squats (circuits are good), because where weights are concerned your still abit young an not fully developed, i'd say wait till your 16. i see it in my gym to many kids trying to get stronger at 14 an abit under, its silly they should be outside playing sports, an they don't develop like a full-grown adult would, thats my opinion as a fitness instructor though. if u still decide to go make sure you get advice an help, an dont push your boundaries yet untill your atleast 16-17.up to you if you take my advice, but i know what i'm talking about, hope this helps you alex, cheers ben g
scottmarks2007
if you want to get stronger i would suggest riding something like a onza t-bird with a bmx gearing lol for the weeks then swap back for the weekends your best bike will feel really light after that

poopipe
This topic crops up every now and again. I don’t go to the gym, why build up unnecessary muscles? In my opinion if you are reasonably fit and can ride for 2 mins, (the time allowed for a section), just keep riding and the rest will follow.Ben.amen - although there was no need to post such a titillating picture (pm me if you want to play the hotdog game btw )you'll develop whatever muscle you need for a sport by doing it a lot - why waste time on bits you don't use? Biff...
Biff speaking,Ok muscle bladi bla, i started workouts last summer now, free weights and the machines, im HEAVILY into it, improved on my hand cleans, press ups (with a weight belt) dips with weight belt, etc sqauts, overshoulder press, and ive recently reached 420 on my deadlift not fat of TRA's 500! all through that year. I ran EVERYDAY day, i lost 3 and a half stone. and now i do weights. its f**king painful getting fit, you gotta set your mind to it, aswell as your body. Anyways believe it or not, this was me last year ( in the blue ) This is me now if your going to for it to increase bike performance forget it, ride to train the muscles needed for riding.cheers, biffedit: www.myspace.com/zoobike Edited June 9, 2007 by Kyle Hinchcliffe

Mod Man Leo
As part of my personal performance portfolio in sports science, i was monitoring my fitness/muscle mass before and after the season, (county rugby)And last year thanks to trials out of season, and pre season fitness, My biceps went from 11 itches to 14-15, might not seem like much but its a big improvement. And after the season just finished they went to 16, And i think its more or less down to trials,And my forearms are more than a foot now two!And it does help with biking, especially free ride. Were its Manley developed around core strength, (and not falling off) Edited June 10, 2007 by Mod Man Leo
