Dan6061
Why not get a cheap trials bike to start off on?No point spending £700 on something you might get bored of after a while...Have a look at the Onza range for example, T-bird's and T-Pro's. rudirudirudirudirudi
if your just starting buy a second hand bike off here or ebay. and then you can keep the rest for when you start upgrading your bike!! that way you can be practising while saving. if your 12 i would probably get a mod just because you will find it more to your size. Barbra
if you start off at 12 mayte. by the time your 16 you'll be mint! yh get an el cheapo bike first. noobies on zona zips etc look pants to be honest.i find that statement offensive.Look at some of Danny Kearns vids to see what is also achieveable on a zona zip.I'd agree with most people in here, look at the onza range, and stick to 20" wheels, with you being twelve you won't have a brilliant body weight to muscle ratio, so a 20" mod bike would be best. Then theres the option of second hand which i also strongly suggest, but still make sure you stick to 20"

Muel
I said watch Danny Kearns to the guy who said 'noobs on zona zips' and well, Danny is hardly a noob so i was telling him to watch Danny.Just your obvious tools will do, spanners, allen keys, i'd say a spoke key is always a good thing to have as well You don't NEED a bleed kit, you can bleed your brake in the bath with water Calm down mate, he said noobies, meaning newbies, which Danny certainly isn't. The zona zip was just an example. The point he was making was that newbies, (i.e: pants on a bike), look terrible whn they have a mint bike, they look much more at home on T-Pros or whatever.Personally I would spend £200 on a second hand T-Pro, and then if you like it get a better bike, a T-Pro will do anything a 12 year old can. Start young on a T-Pro, then save up for a better bike. That way, you will have learnt all the maintenance techniques and stuff when you get your new bike, so you will be able to look after it better. Captain Scarlet
To be quite honest this kind of thing happens a lot, and in most cases the person doesn't get anywhere with trials or gives up.I'm not saying that this is going to happen to you, but it just makes things silly. If you start off on a top range bike, if you was to learn all the stuff, ride trials for a few years and progress, what bike would you progress to?, it takes away all the excitement of one day having a "Dream bike".Secondly, starting off on a cheaper bike will mean you will be less concious about damaging your bike, progressing in trials can be a hard task and the bike does take a beating, so thats why its best to learn on a cheaper bike, then once you have learnt the skills you can switch to a better bike without having to damage it so much.Just stick to Onza, you don't really need a bike much higher than that, its definately the rider not the bike.A T-Bird would get my vote as a good starter bike, or T-Pro, but nothing higher than that.Don't just assume or think, good bike = good riding, I mean maybe I'm being a bit prejudice towards you, but look at some of the people on the forum, Danny Kearns has already been mentioned when he had his Zona Zip its not exactly a top range bike but he is a really good rider.Matt Staples made a video last year [LINK] in which he is riding an almost standard T-Mag, but look how good of a rider he is.Also think of this, £600-£700 is a lot to pay for a bike, especially at your age (and I'm assuming skill level), that could definately be spent on other things or saved for the future (car, moped etc).Like I said, don't go any higher than an Onza and you will be perfect.-Tom
Muel
Just stick to Onza, you don't really need a bike much higher than that, its definately the rider not the bike.To a certain extent, you will progress faster on a T-Pro or a T-Mag than any other bike in my opinion, because you won't be thinking, is my bike OK?I wouldn't get a T-Bird, but thats my opinion. whostheman_121
If you are considering buying an Echo from WebCyclery, don't forget the postage if you do buy from there. It will be the regions of £150 - £200 depending where you are in the UK as WebCyclery are based in America. In the end, you will be spending about £850 inc. postage for the bike and as you say in an earlier post, that's more that your £700 budget.Go for a second hand bike: usually cheap for what you pay for and it won't matter if it's gets a beating.
