ALEX@BIKETRIALSFUN
Why do they have to Squeak it dose not matter if they Squeak or not it dose not make any difference it just makes it sound powerful but I run zoo they Squeak with or with out tar hope this helps. Heat and sound is wasted energy which is what you dont want.if you need to grind the rim, why are disc's Smooth !!!!!do you have to grind them too !!!!!!!!!! NO becuase disks are not rims and there is also a long story why this is a bad idea use the search tool......AND on the note of sound its pointless. its nice getting a nice squeek when you really need it but is bloody annoying if you get a slight buckle or something..... genrally the sound ability of a pad is tested in the tunnel by londerners lol
Ash-Kennard
if you need to grind the rim, why are disc's Smooth !!!!!do you have to grind them too !!!!!!!!!! no, discs have much rougher pads
Andrex
I guess I'm the only person that thinks having a stupidly noisey brake is abit embarassing? A sweet honk sounds good when your actually riding but I don't like riding down the high street with other people who have squeeky brakes and they love purposely drawing attention to themselves. The only reason I could think of to have noisey brakes is so that you know its working because otherwise your saying 'Hey look at me, I'm a non conformist who rides a bike with no seat and I love the attention I'm getting by having a squeeky brake.'I totally agree! Luke Rainbird
Uhhh Me Dick Bag! Thats Why I Posted The Topic IdiotOh dear - however if you want pads just for noise, then I wouldn't say it was Kennard being a 'Dick Bag'...Oh, also, look up punctuation in the dictionary I guess I'm the only person that thinks having a stupidly noisey brake is abit embarassing? The only reason I could think of to have noisey brakes is so that you know its working because otherwise your saying 'Hey look at me, I'm a non conformist who rides a bike with no seat and I love the attention I'm getting by having a squeeky brake.'Got it in one - I have a loud brake (rock pads on a grind) but it's more for the fact it works, the noise is there when they work, which is handy for knowing the power will be there when you need it, but a silent powerful brake would be perfectno smooth the dont work there crap grind them i have i got 1 and my mates go one so not only comp riders grind rimsSmooth works, grind works, depends greatly on pads/setup though. End of.

Simpson
but you need to convert the kinetic energy into something...Yea traction, but the heat and sound are the downsides of traction as they are the things that you dont want
Grant H
Yea traction, but the heat and sound are the downsides of traction as they are the things that you dont wantclap you hands, what happens? makes a noise. Its converted the kinetic energy to sound. andits
Smooth do work.I think that smooth only work slightly better with tar. So basically just grind it and your brakes will squeek like hell then and be excellent!! :)
ManxTrialSpaz
Only comp riders grind rims and iv not seen a full on street bike with a gring iv not got a grind and i have onza pads they are just as good and you still have modulation. You are a fool.I've got a plaza and a coust up front. that squeaks and annoying amount and doesn't stop me very quickly either.Do you think he tried Gaz Ms method of braking power? Cus he hasn't replied after that? Edited May 29, 2007 by ManxTrialSpaz
gianttrials
Why smooth? Smooth rims don't work. Grind it. really, y grind? smooth rims do work
ilikeriding
clap you hands, what happens? makes a noise. Its converted the kinetic energy to sound.Yes but clapping your hands isnt gonna stop you from flying over the back on a rail gap, the sound wont make your brakes better. Simpson
clap you hands, what happens? makes a noise. Its converted the kinetic energy to sound.Your an idiot read a text book, yes the kinetic energy is transfered to sound so what? i understand your principle as you originally stated but your theory was totally wrong, if you clap your hands harder you get a louder noise becuase there is more energy there to be wasted, but on a trials brake you dont want the energy to be wasted you want for all the energy to be converted into stopping your rear wheel not be wasted in sound...its complete bull shit in principle and i could be wrong though.... but meh end it here
