anzo
Hi folks,Right, just a quick question...Running a Koxx Monsterboy and a Chris King hub with a 180mm disc brake (inc. 20mm adapter). All fitted (without snail cams) and the rotor rubs on the left side of the caliper (looking at the caliper from the rear of the bike). Obviously I'm thinking that snail cams will act as a bit of a spacer for the brake and make the rotor central, however, space is minimal! And fitting snail cams would be a bit of an awkward job.Another option is to use a surface grinder and take some off the adapter so it takes the brake more to the left and so makes the rotor central.Just searching for ideas at the minute, I'm sure many have come across this situation before and I dont think the king hubs is compatible with the koxx frame (due to the lack of space in them).See the photos for a better example, If someone could measure the thickness of a try-all or any make of snail cam for me it would be a great help, and also would I be right in thinking that snail cams would solve the problem?Just had another look at the hub and it MAY work with the snail cam, depending on the thickness of them. So, anyone with a snail cam PLEASE measure the thickness for me
Has anyone seen my shoe?
Dont worry about the thickness of the snail cams, cos you can always butcher them surely?Rather then your disc brake lol

But the adapter is only like £20, better butchering that then the caliper. But seriously, If this setup doesn't work I'll be stringing myself up

Zordon
This is because Chris King does not manufacture a Bmx Iso Disc hubs. Only due to the fact that shells of classic and bmx ones are identical and in case of classic it is possible to replace it co iso disc one, somebody one day thought why not to replace the bmx one with iso disc one. That's how the ck bmx disc hub emerged. Unfortunately, because of shorter axle in bmx hub, the disc mount got closer to the axle and than it should be. I think modern mod disc frames (montys, koxxes, czars?) have international standard disc tabs. In case of mod hubs and their short axles, their disc-side flanges have to be much closer to the centre, making whole shells much more narrow. The pink colour of your hub tells me this is probably the Inur's former hub He made a very nice guideline for solving your problem:http://www.bikepoznan.com/readarticle.php?article_id=
Greetings
Haven't got time to go into detail buddy but as long as you've got a ~116mm spaced frame you'll be fine. Use two snail cams on the non drive side; on the drive side a chain tug mounted on the outside of the frame. This will give you an extra 6mm of space on the non-drive side. Also note that you have two different screw lengths. The silver one should go on the non-drive side because it's much longer.I ran this hub in a dual disc GU for a while and that kind of setup fixed all the problems. As you know it was a little bit awkward on the Monty mainly due to the 106mm dropout spacing. Can't wait to have a go on that bike Just change the brakes to rear right hand for July please
