Ducko
if you mean getting up then jumping of like cls does sometimes, i wouldnt class it as making the move, only class it as being made if you control it .
Janson
doesn't count as a real sidehop. still makes me happy if i do it, means i've progressed a little.wouldn't put in a video unless it was on something like the handrail of a bridge or something. Dan6061
You can make the height, you just can't control it.Whenever I sidehop something, I always try to stay on it. Just do a little hop into whatever i'm sidehopping. Seems to work.

Pauly
some days i can side big some days i cant..same man it realy stresses me out .. that one day in bristol where i couldnt belive how high i was going then the last 4 rides ive been struggling to get 45 but anyway i think its more of a achivement when you stay on it, i suppose to me it depends on how much your wheel is actually on the wall if you clean it then jump off its not to bad whereas if your wheel is half way down the wall and you jump off it dosent count.Paul

Phatmike
Look at it like a tap to back wheel. If you landed on back wheel, no matter how high, but abubacad off, you wouldn't've made it - simple as.
Davetrials
glad to see we all agree so far. ive noticed the only people who disagree are the people who do nothing but on/offs Edited May 26, 2007 by Davetrials
Shaun H
IMO doesn't count. And it looks shite. And why the hell is it mostly mod riders that seem to do it? They're supposed to be sidding machines...Mike's point is what I said in another thread, but some on-offer blatted out some shite about it being completely different. I think on off sidehops do count, because the due fact that you have actually made the height and your tucking your bollox off to keep on top of the wall shows that you are pushing your self as far as you can go which is what i like to see.I PERSONALLY think they look good but meh.Its just like saying, "oh you tapped that wall and slipped down but your bashplate/bashring/frame didn't touch the wall and you just dragged the wheel over in stead of keeping it straight on the backwheel.See my point.Danny. T-Limburn
im not a fan. but even the people saying it doesnt count will do on/off side hops at times. you cant always make it on top/stick it so sometimes you have to hop back off.i prefer not to on/off, but i guess its better than trying to stick it throwing your weight everywhere and looping out sideways! N.Wood
Doesn't count. If you can get the height, sweet, but that just means you need to do it till you sidehop it properly, i.e stay on the wall. Then you can put it in a video. As the for the tapping thing, i agree with Mike. You tap something, you make the height, but your weight is too far over the back so you hop back off again. You do it again and again till you stay on the wall, otherwise it doesn't count! omgnoseat
Doesn't count, people who say that it does count are just trying to protect their crappy sidehop technique
Pekr!
Doesnt't count, you wouldn't do it in a competition would you? So why bother doing it. I know the people that only ride street are going to bitch about that. Its like tapping a wall them jumping straight back off, you wouldn't count that woud you plus it does look quite crap.Cheers,Stefan.

Ash-Kennard
i think the only time it works is on rails where you don't fancy getting crushed by a lorry or something.but under most circumatances, no it doesn't count
Greetings
Haha I can imagine some of these high-sidehopping street riding kids going to a comp, doing an on/off sidehop and then asking the judge if they could get off their bike, walk up onto the obstacle and continue riding because they managed to get up.So to sum up, if somebody wants to impress you by saying "man, i've sidehopped 50" but then jumped off", it's your choice whether you find it impressive or not. samo
well most of the street riders don't realy enter comps they just ride for fun. and if they do a on/off side hop who realy cares Edited May 27, 2007 by samo
James Quigley
It does count just not as a side hop.It counts as a sideways Abubika (?spelling), if your feet dont leave the pedals then t must be a move of some kind.
