Logica_Creativity
Hi, and thanks to anyone who replies I've tried to research using the wiki and search as much as possible before posting. I'm new to all this and apologise if my spellig is terrible, I have real trouble spelling some words for some reason. Those silent letters always catch me out!Used to have a cheap bike from Halfords and at the time wanted to get into trials, though not knowing what it was named at the time. Fast forward 5 years to now and i've been looking for a Mountain bike of some variety for the past couple of weeks. First I was more inclined towards buying a downhill or dirt jump bike but since I am living in an urban city there appears to be a great lack of large hills or jump tracks nearby.Plus the more i have looked at videos on you tube the more tempted I am by trials bikes. The sport if thats a good term for it looks amazingly fun.Couple of queries though being, if i were to get a 26" bike how possible would a 2-3 mile ride (30 minutes on foot) be I don't mind the lack of seat just the gear configeration I assume wouldnt be much good for road/park use over any distance. Walking to my girlfriends house can be a pain so would a trials bike be possible for this?Secondly my budget is around 300 for the bike then another 50 for helmet, lights, punture kit ect. This looks like a good bargain from Ebay, any feedback on it possible? Item number: 300114276841 - A second hand Zoo pitbull, though there is a reserve which could possibly put it over budget.Or the http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?id=2147 If I was to go for a new bike. The gears may be nice on that for road use, but from what i've read here they can be problematic? Finally I've been looking at this also:Item number: 200111835617 - A Onza T-pro which i've read makes a good begginers bikeSince the seller lives close that would also make it pratical. However I will be wanting to use it to ride some distances as explained earlier and 20" would make this much more arduous would it not?Thank you

Logica_Creativity
Do gears not cause problems then? The Zoo Pitbull looks like the best deal of the three, assuming the reserve price isnt much over 200 pound and its not horribly damaged in some way that will result in my crashing and loss of multiple bodily parts. Logica_Creativity
Thank you for the full member, and so soon too. Brains still scouring through the possibilities. I am a bit worried about buying from Ebay for a start, but i've heard the Phase 1.3 isnt paticularly good and I want something to last me at least a year or so.Can anyone offer any advice now it has been moved to the more important forums? mintsauce96
If you want a new bike for around 300 then have a look at the new diamond back. I saw it in my lbs for a quid less than your budget! looks like it'd be a good starting bike!

Logica_Creativity
Hey again, been doing some more probing of the internets and this has popped up:http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=5873Saracen M.A.D 2.6 2005. Or theres the Saracen flea from Evans too.Any thoughts on it, it's way under budget which is nice too In reply to above I cant find any Dimondback trials bikes anywhere, wish to point a url in my direction? Evans comes up with a blank page. Will probably look to make a choice in the next couple of days because i'm tired of changing my mind constantly over the past 2 weeks of looking at all the options.
