NileBrown™
If not then use a metal glue such as araldite as that will keep it in for a long time.
Deonn h
Either try and glue it back or put another steel insert in size m6.Ive done tht in my old frame it's fine.
Mod Man Leo
If not then use a metal glue such as araldite as that will keep it in for a long time.Thats the best thing to do for a quick fix option. That glue is LETHAL though, dont get it on cloths/pets. basher
Did he put a insert in or a helicoil, im guessing insert because i cant see how a helicoil could pull out. In that case i think the outer thread on a insert is something like m8 which is big so you wont be able to helicoil the hole as a m8 bolt wouldn't even fit through the maggie mounts. Glue it and see how that is if its ok then your problem is solved, if not then you could take the insert out and then weld up the hole filling it in and then retap it and it will be like new. Just make sure its retap in the right place and you take all the correct measurements before its welded.
Bionic Balls
make sure you leave it to cure long enough rick...there's nothing worse- once you've fuct a bond up it's proper hard to have another good go at it have a look in wilko at glue- there's probably something even better than araldite to use and seeing as it's probably a very tight fitting insert you can get some silly good glue that doesn't have to be good at gap filling (like araldite...tis a compromise)..adam
robster
Get it ally welded then re-drill it out 4.00mm Dia and re tap it M5. Job done, propper size bolts no need to open your mounts out either good as new.

Tony Harrison
If I was going to weld and re-tap, I'd still use a steel insert. When Yamaha made their first aluminium racing bike frames they used steel inserts because they weren't prepared to trust the ally. Ok, things have come a long way since then, but even so, a heli-coiled thread in an aluminium frame is stronger than a standard thread. If there's room, you could drill/tap again and fit a helicoil with an insert inside it to bring it down to M5, OR helicoil/insert it to M6 and use bigger bolts. Without experience at doing this you risk screwing the frame up completely, so it might be best taking it to a bike shop.I'm still confused as to why so many people strip the threads in four-bolt mounts. I've had trials frames with four-bolt mounts for 4 years now and never had that happen.
Bionic Balls
i think my booster did it to mine...kinda pushes the bolts too far out (IE: the booster is a wee bit too wide..)but then it used to be a bashring.
lankyri
to be fair i have had a few frames now and this is the first frame i have had that i stripped the threads i think i know how i done this now because simpson gave me a medium grind the day before and i have recently just bought a 2 bolt booster so that could of been the reason why the inserts popped out as there was so much friction between pad and rim (phat pads in cnc backings) cheers for your help any way guys really do appreciate it im gonna go for the glue idea first but if that fails il get someone to re tap etc, and il try not to get the glue on my dog lol
