Thinking Of Vees.

Ok - digging up an old topic for those who asked to let them know how it went.

I decided to go for it.

Got a set of SD7s, an XTR booster, cable, heatsink CNC V pads (x2 sets), bolts from Rich (Karsonlevoret) and he chucked a lever in for free! (Totalled £50 posted)

Didn't fancy spending £30 on Heatsink adapter if there was a chance the cable would clip on my tyre, so I got a legend of a guy called Ed Potts (Dave85) to make me a custom one. He made, fitted, and set up the whole thing for £20 for me.

A post from the man himself - as he has the bike, and I don't get it back 'till tomorrow - will follow.

When I get it back, I'll be sure to whack some pictures up aswell for you all :)

Well it works, needs a damned good booster with clearance (XTR is very close to the tyre). The vee boss is set in the bottom hole of the 4-bolt mounts, for more power and better cable clearance over the top of the tyre, but it wouldnt work if the wheel was any further back. Holds better than most maguras to be honest.

Bar 6 months on maggies, since I started riding almost 6 years ago I've used vee's. A well set up vee is amazing, bug make sure you spend a fair bit of time setting up the pads flat.

My recommended trick to get a decent ser up is: wind out the barrel adjuster halfway, loosen off the pad bolts, pull the arms together by hand and tighten up the cable pinch bolt. Then wind out the barrel adjuster some more, check the pads are sitting square then wrench up the pad bolts. If you find the pads moving as you tighten up the bolts just pull the lever, the extra pressure should help.
