N.Wood
The reason for this is 'cos of tuckage, and pedal clearance. Its alot easier to tuck when your arse is on the same side of your lead foot. This is because of the way your knees bend and stuff. Also you get more clearance between the pedal and wall, which is nice.I go to my left with left foot forwards, but can go the same height to my right now.Learning how do go to both sides is very useful. montyrider07
Im left foot forward and used to sidehop left, however I was useless at it and a mate made me try going the other way and hey hey, within 30mins I did 5 blue. Whereas I can only do about 3 going left
mr_malcolm
I have to say im right foot foward but would rather side hop to the leftotherwise i find me leading pedal gets in the way and i end up clipping the wall with it sometimes. N.Wood
you'd better tell that to nezza thenNext time i see him down the pub, i will. Not sure what you're getting at, i ride left foot forwards and sidehop to the left.Name someone else decent who go's to the same side as their lead foot. Yeah...There is a reason for it.If you read my post, you'd see i was stating the fact that its easier to tuck the other way.

simtradan
i have recently started side hopping to the correct side and have actually found it much easier. Isn't the reason there is a correct side because of the way you have the availability to hook your pedal on the thing you are trying to side hop??? T-Limburn
alot of people feel a little comfier going to the opposite side as their lead foot, for the reason stated that its a little more natural and easier to tuck.but then again, most people also try to go to the left, especially stock riders, because of mechs.there is definately no RIGHT way of sidehopping, its which ever way you feel comfortable, and whichever way you can sidehop best.Tom
spode@thinkbikes
There are SO many threads on this topic already. Do a search! There are some pages long, with everyone's opinions and directions they side hop in. I'm sure nothing has changed since then...
gianttrials
Keita sidehops to his right, and is left foot forward.not in the vid i saw of him, maybe he's just good enough at it both ways, but still he was hopping left foot forward to left
kenzo604
Learning to side hop in both directions is a very helpful technique to learn indeed, in competitions, for example, you can then tackle sections that in a single direction would be very difficult, learning to ride switch so you can choose to use either foot is also another good thing to learn for the same reason as side hopping. Both are also good ways of killing time on street rides as they are both challenging and general good practice.Look at Chris Akrigg for an example of ambidextrous riding. ALEX@BIKETRIALSFUN
In my case I find I dose not matter but when I was leering I found going the opposite way to my to my right foot but it is how ever you feel comfortable. Hope it helps
N.Wood
not in the vid i saw of him, maybe he's just good enough at it both ways, but still he was hopping left foot forward to leftYeah he switches lots. But i watched 3 videos of him after you made your statement, and for all the big sidehops he went to his right. He go's to the left if he wants to do his little front to back thing, thats all. He is DEFINATELY left foot forward and go's to the right unless he's doing them to his bad side.
