Michael Ingle
Can someone give me some information on the Vibe black box 6x9s? Ive had a little look around the internet but I cant find out what the back section on them is. A mate of mine just got a pair (not wired them up and doesnt know how). He picked them up cheap but they dont have the instructions. Basically they have an extra unit on the back with two extra connections and Im not sure what theyre for. Im guessing its an amp of some kind but basically wanting to know either way.For anyone who doesnt know what they look like, this is them:http://geranios.net/eshop/popup_image.php?...d0a527e2d253b00Anywho, if anyone has heard a pair then let me know what theyre like because I might have a chance at a pair to replace my speakers, if Im quick.Cheers, Mike.I would edit that to Black Hex but the forum wont let me.Mike
Fish-Finger-er
had some an age ago amped up, and there punchy for 6 x 9's, due to the huge magnets in them. box on the back is a crossover, supposedly filters the signals so they go to the right place, as they have tweeters in the middle, ideally they get the treble, and the woofer gets the low frequencies(bass) so the woofer aint trying to make vocals, and the tweeter aint trying to drop ground shaking notes. thats the theory behind them
nmt_oli
If your running them of a headunit get something that needs less power, those ideally need to be amped up.
mat hudson
he'd be fine to run them off the headunit untill he could afford an amp though aslong as he didnt push the eadunit all the way up and make it overheat..... might aswell go for it. they look nice quality. the fact they have a crosover will mean they'll sound better than anything without one, sends the lows/low mids to the woofer, and high's/mids to the tweeters. increases efficiancy etc, no sound of strugging componants. Michael Ingle
So for him they sound like a good choice. Ive already got a sub in my car, so would I really be gaining anything if I got the black hex's? I think my amp is 4 channel so I could possibly wired them up through that. Currently my 6x9s are only sony xplode so ive not bothered wiring them through an amp. Im still a little unclear on how to wire his blackhexs then, as theres the extra two connections right at the bottom of each unit.Cheers, Mike. mat hudson
possibly for bi-amping but i dont know really, if it is you'll be able to bridge it somehow.
nmt_oli
yes you can bi amp them, as they have a seperate crossover unit. the two big terminals are the woofer cones, the two small spades are the tweeter conections. the included crossover has one input line, and two output lines, one for the woofer, and one for the tweeter.
