V Brake Cable

Recommended Posts

Right, just been out and done some trials, and then I came inside with the bike and noticed that the wire on my back V-Brake has snapped but left 2 wire lines in the holder. There is not alot of room to pull the wire though..... So what should I do, and how much would a new wire cost? Thanks Nigel

stick with the vees, they have more pros than maggies. Its woth getting some decent cable though, linear slicks at £6 new are some of the best! WD40 is also a good lube, you dont want anything too thick in them, will make the cable sticky and will attract dust and dirt.

You just need to play around and find a better set up that works for you. A desent V can cost as much or more than a maggie.

Ben

Err you didn't really answer his question did you.

Although, I will..

This setup will be pretty decent for not too much money:

Avid sd7

Plazmatic CRV's or Heatsink vee brake backings with your chosen pad material.

A grind :turned:

A brake booster

that should provide you with good brakes :)

If you have the money (70 quid, I think) and can warrant spending it then get same as above but avid ultimate brakes..
