Grant H
well basically you have a tool that will cut a certain sized thread into a hole...so you kinda screw it into the hole you want to tap and it cuts the thread so that you can put a bolt in it. basher
Whats your problem exactly?Taping cuts a thread into a hole so you can screw a bolt in.A die deos the oposite it cut a thread to create a bolt. Its easier to buy a new bolt so you should never need to do this unless your a engineer. If you have threaded a magura mount on your frame, then you will either have to get it drilled and tap a bolt size bigger, which will mean you will have to drill your mount out slightly so your bolt will fit through the mount. Or you can have it hellicoiled the same size as the original thread. Its best to take it to a small engineering place or a local garage for the helicoiling. But a local diy store should have the tools you need to do either.
