Guest
Sometimes i see people on dirty bikes and i think "well that person obviously doesnt take much care of his/her bike". on the other hand i see people with sparkley clean bikes and i think "whats the point, they are made to get dirty". Is cleaning your trials bike a waste of time, Or is it good to keep your bike in mint condition?
RobinJI
Meh, I never clean my bike, if its wet theres no point 'cos it'll just get muddy again instantly, if it's dry theres no point, because it'll just fall off sometime soon anyway. I'll clean my off-road bike after a really muddy ride, but I can only ever be bothered to clean the moving parts to stop then getting damaged, no point in having a shiny downtube/toptube, it's not gunna make your bike ride any better. . Token
I find if you look after your bike, then less things tend to go wrong. Also when your cleaning it, it's a good oppurtunity to see if anythings dodgy, or needs repairing. I can't see how your bike can get really dirty anyway, 99% of trials riders are either on street or rocks. Don't get to see much mud. Token
It's a bike . Total mass area of a bike is tiny (in comparison to a car, or a bedroom) so if you can't be bothered to keep it in a pretty good condition then I guess it kind of shows your lazy? It doesn't take alot of effort to get a rag out and wipe off the grime.

Si-man
Clean, even if all the parts on it are sealed.Chain and mech is a deffinate for cleaning as dirt can cause it to skip.Bearings also get cleaned and then a nice film of grease shoved over the outside to stop shite getting in.Grease gets put into the heads of bolts to stop water from standing in them causing them to rust. That sort of stuff gets done really. Also, polish your bike once in a while then wax it, the dirt comes off so much easier if you do that. Token
On powder coated frames, if you t-cut them the paint comes out absolutely beautiful, great for getting rid of brake hosing scuffs and it just makes the frame look brand new. Then wax, makes everything easier.Word up to Si-man, he knows his onions.(sp) Edited May 19, 2007 by Scopse
Mike W
I do a full clean of mine about once every 6 weeks, whats the point in spending so much on a bike and having it look crap ? i tie cleaning it in with servicing it kind of thing so it doesnt take much effort at all really mike W
