Taps To 90

There are two ways of doing this: One is to tap, stick it to front wheel and bring the back up to the side using the endo. The other is to go as if to tap OVER the wall and land squarely ontop of it to two wheels.

To pull off the latter: Roll up to the wall as if you're about to tap (body crouched, weight slightly forward, ready to put the big pedal stroke down to lift the front) As you pedal the front up to tap the wall, you need to be going at a very slight angle. As your front wheel hits (and it needs to hit pretty hard as its going to bounce you and a bike onto the wall) keep the bars parrallel with the edge of the wall (i.e, keep them facing forwards) but instead of pushing the back wheel out from underneath you, push the bars forwards, and you ahve to seriously twist your body in the direction you back end should be going (rule of thumb: Left footed, back end swings to the right, vice versa) and suck the whole frame up underneath you. When you land on the wall, if someone were to take a picture the split second your tyres land, they shouldn't be able to tell weather you're doing a sidehop or a tap 90; thats how much you have to tuck the bike underneath you. As the rear wheel lands on the wall (probably slightly after the front) you'll be hanging way off the side of the frame and back over the edge you just came up, but your momentum should immediately pull you upright, where you can stand up, trackstand for a minute, bask in your buddies applause and awed orgasm noises, and ride away with Gace Kelly.

So to summarise:

  • Ride up normally
  • Pedal and pull the bars normally but with a slight twist
  • Tap the wall HARD
  • keep bars straight but twist your body out in the direction you want to go
  • Tuck the bike right up under you by unweighting the pedals
  • Hit the anchors as you land
  • Stand up
  • Look cool
  • Grace Kelly
  • Babies
  • Happily ever after

that bits VERY important!!

I plough my front wheel in to it ALOt harder than i would on a coventional tap

keep my bars kinda straight and twist my hips like a fanny, so i get this sorta sidehop tuck kinda thing going on, if you can do tap 90's but cant tuck on sidehops then im confused..

smaller taps are alot easier that just requires some "air" out of the tap then u just add a spin, try tap 180's there REALLY fun, but f**king scary, and wen they go wrong it hurts like a fanny.

I sort of almost slightly managed to do these a month ago, the day I killed my ankle.

Firslty I tried the old tap to front wheel and pivot the rear end round. Then gradually started putting the front down later and later.

In the end I was almost getting it to two wheel, like has been said above the front tends to land first.

Hmm, that's slightly different and you can do that with or without a tap - but still nice. I think what they are talking about it clearing it and landing 180 on two wheels.

That's a tap 90, but pivoting off the front. Not a slow pivot, but a fast one. I find it a little more controlled than just hopping it. And if you screw up it hurts less.

I find the trick to getting them with the pivot is that you have brake a LOT sooner than you think you would as you need to be right on the very edge - almost pinching it. I think I might even hit below the edge and basically tap and roll it in to a pinch. Really depends.

And then yeah, just tuck it in a bit!
