Luke Rainbird
Hey,Not that my normal taps are really any good, but would quite like to play around a bitBasically, how the hell do you do taps to 90?!Any tips/pointers appreciated Thanks in advance, much manlove xx
Rich Pearson
There are two ways of doing this: One is to tap, stick it to front wheel and bring the back up to the side using the endo. The other is to go as if to tap OVER the wall and land squarely ontop of it to two wheels. To pull off the latter: Roll up to the wall as if you're about to tap (body crouched, weight slightly forward, ready to put the big pedal stroke down to lift the front) As you pedal the front up to tap the wall, you need to be going at a very slight angle. As your front wheel hits (and it needs to hit pretty hard as its going to bounce you and a bike onto the wall) keep the bars parrallel with the edge of the wall (i.e, keep them facing forwards) but instead of pushing the back wheel out from underneath you, push the bars forwards, and you ahve to seriously twist your body in the direction you back end should be going (rule of thumb: Left footed, back end swings to the right, vice versa) and suck the whole frame up underneath you. When you land on the wall, if someone were to take a picture the split second your tyres land, they shouldn't be able to tell weather you're doing a sidehop or a tap 90; thats how much you have to tuck the bike underneath you. As the rear wheel lands on the wall (probably slightly after the front) you'll be hanging way off the side of the frame and back over the edge you just came up, but your momentum should immediately pull you upright, where you can stand up, trackstand for a minute, bask in your buddies applause and awed orgasm noises, and ride away with Gace Kelly. So to summarise: Ride up normallyPedal and pull the bars normally but with a slight twistTap the wall HARDkeep bars straight but twist your body out in the direction you want to goTuck the bike right up under you by unweighting the pedalsHit the anchors as you landStand upLook coolGrace KellyBabiesHappily ever afterFor additional help, check out the videos D15C_Summer, damon_tarty_ttl_2 and Damon_Video_3Hope that helpsRich

Rusevelt
Would be awesome if someone could tap-to-180. but thats a long way off anyones skill level.
James Quigley
I sort of almost slightly managed to do these a month ago, the day I killed my ankle.Firslty I tried the old tap to front wheel and pivot the rear end round. Then gradually started putting the front down later and later. In the end I was almost getting it to two wheel, like has been said above the front tends to land first. Rich Pearson
Would be awesome if someone could tap-to-180. but thats a long way off anyones skill level.Me and Ben Moore have got damn close (tap, clear over, turn 180 in the air) and I'm pretty sure I've seen Jamie Pedrosa do a full 180 off a tap.Rich

Luke Rainbird
Awesome thanks Rich, shall be giving them a shot next chance I get to ride (In between shite weather, revision, exams, going away...!)Oh, bit off topic, but did you ever totally slaughter that rear wheel from Plymouth, or did you just bung a new one in?! I think what they are talking about it clearing it and landing 180 on two wheels. That's a tap 90, but pivoting off the front. Not a slow pivot, but a fast one. I find it a little more controlled than just hopping it. And if you screw up it hurts less.I find the trick to getting them with the pivot is that you have brake a LOT sooner than you think you would as you need to be right on the very edge - almost pinching it. I think I might even hit below the edge and basically tap and roll it in to a pinch. Really depends. And then yeah, just tuck it in a bit!
