How can it be the site of "many motorcycle world trials championship rounds".

When the only place used for motorcycle trials in the UK has been Hawkstone park?

in recent years yes, but it used to be held all over the country, from memory the steve saunders, thierry michaud era was at merthyr, the site has a lot to offer , wales is full of good riding sites so there is plenty more to choose from for a welsh series etc

so if the weather is good , you should still be able to get an entry

Sections were great thanks to Lois Morgans dad. You are a legend as ever, it is a shame you are not around the scene as much nower days Garry you will be missed.

The trial was a complete shambles.

1 NO loos for the ladies.

2 NO observers (had to pull 1 section up)

3 NO butty van and nowt for miles around

4 NO official first aider (N)

5 NO officials at all from what I could see.

6 No scrutinising of bikes (they did it at Hook Woods ????):-

8 ONLY thirty odd riders there. :o

If this is what the British trials championship has to offer then it is a very very very poor do. It has cost a lot of people a lot of time and money to get to this venue. The venue itself was very good. However the trial was no more than a very badly run club trial.

I am fully aware of how hard it is to run these events, i was heavily involved in the trial at Blackpool last week, what a contrast that is all I will say.......

Yeah I agree, the organisation of this trial was poor in my opinion. I don't like having a go at the people who run trial's because I know it takes a lot of work and its usually done voluntarely. However this is supposed to be the British Championships and it should be done right! Along with "robsters" points, I also thought the decision to make riders ride section 9 (I think) backwards, because a few riders wrongly rode it this way was very poor! Surely they should of either re-rode it the correct way or had a 5? Then on the 2nd lap we had to ride it the other way :S

It took me and a few others around 4hrs to drive there the night before and we couldn't see any signs on the roads, yet on the entry it said it would be sign posted.

On a positive note, I thought most of the sections were marked out well! and I enjoyed the challenge in the rain! It did rain non-stop all day haha.

Im not going to get into the organisation side of things, but i know the reason there were no toilets is because no one would deliver there, because its such a dodgy area!!

Id like to say well done to matt tupman and the morgans (especially gary) for marking out some really good sections, thought there was a good variety, some easy and some hard.

As for the rain........ its all part of it, and it added another challenge to it!

I actually really enjoyed the day, and i was really happy with my ride, done some good bits and didnt make too many mistakes :)

Hope everyones dried off!

Ive been there before, and for those of you who dont know, some areas have pointy sharp rocks ,and some places have little grass ramp things with flat ledges and stuff to get up.

Its quite slippy in the wet but not overly bad.

2nd event in for the new committee and its already hit the fan?

can someone kindly tell other when the "Team application" forms will be sent out for the world champs? some of us who are interested in going will need to make prior arrangements and need to make sure were going to get an application form.

is it the Tupmans that will be doing the paperwork? or will it be Brian Matthews? or Barry Deeks? its only like 7/8 weeks away before people will start travelling.

Waynio................................
