little bmxer boy
Hay I was browsing the net and came across the giro zen Helmets They look nice but 90 pounds it is a bit much for a Helmet are they worth the money.
Grant H
well those kind of helmets need to be replaced when they are hit hard (especially in trials)so if you dont land on your head much they'll be alright as iv heard they are comfy etc..but if your newer you might break it quickly therefore getting a 30 quid helmet would do nicely
tomtrials
you could say a helmet is just a helmet and a bike is just a bike but i really think i good helmet is worth buying as you always wear it and not be put off if you buy a cheaper one and you don't think it looks good, if you get what i mean.hope that helps Tom
BenLeacock™
Hay I was browsing the net and came across the giro zen Helmets They look nice but 90 pounds it is a bit much for a Helmet are they worth the money. This is extremly stupid thread. ARE THEY WORTH £90 ? All depends really, do you think you head is worth 90 quid ? With out any arguing these are the best helmets on the market today. There is nothing that compaires to these!! They are great. I would recommend one anyday!! They dont need to be replaced EVERY time they are hit hard. They are the same as every other helmet you are advised to do this as it will weaken if you dont. But i highly recommend one. They are also extremly comfy Ben

Is really not like a motobike helmet when your traveling stupid speeds and when you fall off and hit your helmet you need a new one. zen is a very nice helmet and so is the e2, find a nice size as well so measure your head rather than guessing. BenLeacock™
well its recommended if you hit it hard to replace it.True but if your using a better helmet you wont have to do it as often as they are stronger !!!! Ben

gianttrials
i think the general rule with helmets is that the more expensive it is the more tests that are carried out on it so if you can afford £90 get one, but if you cant afford that get a reputable brand helmet, eg giro, bell, met, cratoni, etc the specialised helmet that retails at £50 is petty good, i use 1 and have no faults with it, alternatively the new fox helmets look pretty good. Shaun H
you just went on about if your head is worth 90 quid but..if you hit it hard it will probably crack, when it cracks it doesn't protect your head aswellso your saying pay more money for a helmet and when it breaks dont get a new one...?If you knock your head and put a few *small* cracks in your helmet you can still use it. It's certainly still better than nothing although obviously it's function is a little affected.Besides, Giro do a half price replacement scheme so each time you break it (within 2yrs of purchase although they don't actually check proof of purchase anymore...) you can get a new one for half the price.True but if your using a better helmet you wont have to do it as often as they are stronger !!!! BenAll helmets in the UK have to pass a certain standard to be allowed on the market. So a more expensive helmet isn't neccesarily stronger, they'll be a better design and have better ventilation, fitment etc but they still all have to pass the same set standard.this statement will settle everything...pisspots ***!! can be hit hundreds of times and wont break, also their only about 20 quid There's evidece of pisspots doing more harm than good in some cases though...But yes they are very hardy and cheap to buy. Alot of riders find they don't provide enough ventilation though, especially in such a "stationary" sport.I've had my Xen a good 8/9 months however I landed on my face 3 months ago and put some nice scratches and cracks in it. Being lazy I still haven't replaced it but I've now broken a part of the Roc Loc through stupidity and I'll be sending it off to Madison soon so I can get a white/acid green one.As for wether they're worth the £90, to quote Waynio when I was deciding between a Xen and a cheaper helmet: "Roc Loc 4 feels like having a leather sofa on your head" and I have to say I agree with him. Never had a comfier helmet
