Monty Brake Spray dose it work as well as tar and dose it last as long.

I havent used monty spray myself, but I heard that it sticks TOO much, and sticks your pads to the rim

Tar works perfectly fine, just go with that

I think its some kind of weird glue substance. It is so tacky, too tacky with kool-stops. I think its better just to go with tar...

It is beasty stuff. I use it on my T-Mag with ZOO! pads. amazing bite and sound

its quite good but its not realy any better than tar to say it costs like a 5er, if you do get some only put a little bit on as it makes your pads stick

I found it was to sticky it felt like i had to kick throught my break after i relised it.I use hair spray now and it works fine and sound's nice.

Also bear in mind the fact how it takes a few minutes to set.

My mate had some of it, its a good idea I think but it doesn't look too good when you miss the rim and spray a bit on the tyre.

If you ask my opinion putting anything on your rim is rubbish, just grind it and set it up with decent pads! ive mucked about with everything on rims i even used cough mixture... but no sack that nothing like a clean setup

I had monty brake spray. Its pretty good stuff but it sticks the pads to the rim. Amazing when it worn in though.

Never used it but fan belt adhesive has the same principle and that worked awesome on my old bike but now i have a new set up which i find is the BEST brake i have ever had... water bled 04 magura Zoo! pads on a filed rim! Its a beast of a brake.

ive used monty spray its ok.......ive used a tiny weenie bit of tar on a clean rim it works slightly better but the best set up by far has to be.......light sharp grind 05 maggie with water bleed and either plazz crm pads ....or koxx reds amazing brake............

i would say if you dont wish to run a grind get your self a set of either pads listed above and only a small amount of tar.......works verry well

Before i grinded my rims, i used monty spray and ended up virtually gluing the pads to the rim

It does'nt seem to last though.

They shouls mould them into pads!

If you ride lots in the wet, Monty spray will be much better. It's resin in the form of a spray and that won't wash off easily. On the other hand, tar and water is probably the worst thing you can have on a rim other than grease.

That the brake spray has a better function - use it on rails to get really good grip

i take it that the spray colour is clear, if so it would look a lot better on the rims than using tar, might give it a go one of these days

monty spray doesnt last as long as tar but works the dream. i use a grind though so i dont use tar much anyway

I put a post up like this the about 2 months ago mate i borght some put it on let it set and found out its absolute crap pads just stuck on the rim and would not let go really annoyed me its just sitting in my room now not being used.

I have tried it once and did not like it that much, I think that grinding your rims is a much better idea.

To those people who say it stick's your pads to the rim's and you prefer to use tar, does tar never stick your pads to your rim? If not, it's because you are applying just enough to hold, but not enough to stick. Why can't you apply the same principle to the monty spray?

It only sticks the pads to the rim when you use too much. When you know what your doing you can achieve the same effect as tar on your rim, the advantage over tar then being what inur pointed out, wet weather peformance.
