Selling A Car Privately....

BONGO

Recommended Posts

Right as you may know i'm selling my beloved subaru.

Of all the cars i've had, i've never sold one. Always part exchanged. I'd rather try to sell this privately as it's more of a specialised car, an enthusiast car.

Any tips on getting the sale??? Face to face it's cool, i can sell the car well thats no prob. And the advert is sound (Y).

I mean where to put the ads lol. It's on a few forums but thats all. Is the trader worth it??? £44 for 3 weeks on the site and in the mag. As sad as it sounds, i don't really have £44 spare at the mo!!! So thats gonna be done next week if i've had no interest by then.

What else.....

Thanks for that, although i've found ont he subaru forums i'm on, only good subaru's sell! People on subaru forums generally own subaru's and want to buy a better one than they already have. Not mine!!!

But, never say never, it's worth a go!

Much appreciated.

I - and many folk I know - find cars almost exclusively through Autotrader. If you're buying 'ordinary' cars then Trader is the place to be. If it's fast, sporty or special then Pistonheads/Specialist forum.

Or both.

I went looking for your wagon Bongo. Wasn't sure where you might have posted it, tried SIDC and saw a car with an obvious number plate :)

lol, it's on SIDC, scoobynet, pistonheads, TF, Myspace, and soon to be the trader magazine and website. No interest yet though (N)

I wouldn't pay for the Autotrader mag these days, everyone just looks on-line!

It's dead cheap for web only.

I whacked my little polo on the trader about 9-10 o'clock one night. I used my home number and my mum was literally inundated with calls the next day, had 3 people arrange viewings for the next night, sold to the first people that looked! Seems a lot of people lurk on the trader just waiting for the car they're after. Trust me if the pics and spec are good you're going to get a ton of calls!

well £44 for 3 weeks in the trader and on the site is pretty good in my eyes. I'm in it from next week and on the site as soon as they put it on. (anyone know how long that'll be??????? couldn't find where it says)

I made my ad at about 9-10ish in the evening and it was on the web the next morning. Oh and make sure you use the telesafe thing! Saves having to tell about a hundred people that the cars sold individually!
