basher
You could make a bracket that attached to the drop out and may be the 4bolt mounts aswell people have done it before.
BenLeacock™
Is there a reason why you actualy want a disk ? Maybe go and look at v's or maggies or the new echo. If you were thinking about buying a disk i wouldnt recommend a rear disk. The brake is put under so much pressure and they become a hell of alot more expense then they are worth. I would say RIM BRAKE ***! Ben

Muel
Yeh its not too hard, as long as you can work a file and a saw.Get a large piece of aluminium, about 6mm thick at least.Drill a hole for the rear axle, mount it in your frame, bend the top which will fit onto the four bolt mount, mark and drill that, the mount the disc rotor on the wheel, mark and drill the holes for the caliper, and then get drilling and filing to make it lighter.Found this pic on my comp, its not the best pic but shows what you are looking at making, but remember that caliper has to be within 1mm vertically of where it should be and exactly where it should be on the horizontal, the pads only move about a quarter of a millimetre. There was a DD GU in bike pics a while back, I'll have a search to see if I can spot it.EDIT: Here's the link. If you are going to go DD, get used to trueing wheels, my mate has had a DD monty for about 6 months, he has had a new set of wheels and I have already had to tension and true them twice.http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....;hl=Double+Disc
Pashley26
Hmmmmmmmmm got me thinking now ! lolDo you recon it would be a relativly good idead to.........run a piece of aluminum down the length of the rear triangle, on the inside.....from the brake mount curving in towards the wheel, down the tube then coming up again and having the qr/axel bolt holding it on ? then i could weld tabs to that ???I Just Want To Do It to Prove A Point To My Mum lol Hmmmmmmmmm got me thinking now ! lolDo you recon it would be a relativly good idead to.........run a piece of aluminum down the length of the rear triangle, on the inside.....from the brake mount curving in towards the wheel, down the tube then coming up again and having the qr/axel bolt holding it on ? then i could weld tabs to that ???I Just Want To Do It to Prove A Point To My Mum lolThink i should add *I already have a magura on the back i just want to see what it would be like becouse my new rear wheel has disc mounts.... Muel
You don't weld tabs onto the piece of aluminium, you file and drill them out of it. The mount on the GU is just a single piece of ali, bent a bit, filed a bit and drilled a bit. There is no welding neccessary.Unless you decided to get it welded up profesionally of course, I know that you can get mounts welded to frames. Muel
I have tried getting some raw aluminium to make a booster, but the prices are so high I might as well just buy one from tarty.Mind you, a mount needs less than a booster, and its something you can't buy from the shop so you need to make it.
