Gusset Slim Jim Pedals

Recommended Posts

I have a Koxx Levelboss with bright green rims. At the moment I have Try All double cage pedals, they are good but quite weak. I was thinking of getting some Gusset Slim Jim pedals from Tartybikes because they look strong and come in bright green. Do you think that I should get them? If not do you know of any other good pedals that come in bright green and where from?

Cheers, Chris

They're really nice to stand on and have just about the right amount of grip (without tearing your shoes to shreds) but my pair only lasted 3 or 4 months on the bmx before the bearings went (thats the ally ones).

If you're not hard on pedals they'll probably last you a fair while but if you are, they won't.

I think Hoffman sole-mates come in green, oddyssey do all their stuff in stupid colours now, fly and animal pedals probably come in green too - check alansbmx.com

of course you could just spray some not green pedals

Hi there mate,i have some on my bmx for £30 you cant go wrong really sealed bearings, pretty light, good coulour choice (green),only down fall is i dont think that they are that grippy so what bike they go on, larger pins might help, shane.

Agreed. Mine sucked. I wouldn't purchase a pair again.

You might want to check out the Primo Balance pedals in Mag. £30 from Firmbikes.

There are enough suggestions in the FAQ part about pedals. Check out the top of trials chat. You won't be able to post but you can still read.

Alright Chris!

As you know I've had my (bright pink) Gusset Slim Jim's for quite some time now. They do feel very nice to stand on but i wouldn't take it any further than that. Even though they have sealled bearings, there is only one bearing in each pedal, the other side is floating on a heap of grease (not good to be honest) which puts s**t loads of strain on the bearings, making them fall apart quicker, also the pins come loose very easily and drop out with the smallest of knocks (hence the reason why they give you a huge supply of spare pins in the box).

ALTHOUGH... You are a smooth rider, and you won't be doing anything too big, so if you like them, get 'em, but I reckon you should browse the net a bit more first!

for the money they're pretty good, i had mine for about 8 months now, haven't lost a pin but the bushings seem to be gone on them and making a crap rattling noise, apart from that the bearings seem to be alright.

but i won't buy a pair again cos i want to try DX's, i've heard good reviews about them.

maybe you should consider spraying the pedals? at least you have a wider choice.

Hey Chris

I would get them ,as you have seen John's they come in the exact green you will need for your rims and are strong, but if you lose the pimpels i dont know where you will be able to get new one's , i would take the risk and get them , but we all know what im like

But as we know they are still a bit pricey
