trialsguru
ive been having some trouble with my right wrist since the end of last summer, it only really hurts when im trying to tap over my limit and now its starting to hold me back a little. i want to get a wrist support so i can still ride and hopefully itll sort itself out.can anyone point me in the direction of a decent one, i really dont want it to be too restrictive but it needs to be snug fitting.ive seen this one hereand this one herekinda liking the second one as it wont affect my grip on the bars.any help would be wicked.thanks
robster
Make sure you have your bars and levers set up correctly, you might be putting pressure on your wrists if you levers are to high or your bars are to far back.If all is well then get yourself a power ball and work on your wrist strenght here are the best ones http://www.powerballs.com/ Good luck JP
basher
By keep riding you will only make it worse, i would sugest taking 2 week out of riding and give it a little rest and some time to heal as riding will only keep agrovateing it and making it take longer to heal. But to answer your question the first one, i have one and because it goes around your thumb it gives alot better suport as it is suporting the movement of the rist and not just the rist itsself like the 2nd one does. I dont think it interfeers with the grip really as you surgested it mite and if it does it is only slight and you just get ust to it after a while. Waynio
haha Peacock, i wonder where you learnt all that from if you were to use a wrist wrap/support, my vote goes to 661 but please dont get attatched and use them constantly, your hand will then depend on it and will not really help the situation. (661 gets my vote all day long!!!! their ankle supports are awsum too when you need them)iv done ligamnents in my hand and i try to use the wrist support for as little time as possible.Waynio...................... Greetings
Instead of blaming your bike setup which can't be wrong if you're only having problems with one wrist, I'd advise you go and see a doctor. There's also a very helpful dude on this forum under the username of Physio. He really knows his shit and has helped out many riders on this forum, just drop him a PM. joewhite
hey.I got a wrist support from boots, its made out of neopreme(sp) and it works well it got rid of my pain and it hasnt come back after it went away. The cost about £10 so not too much out of the pocket aswell.
Waynio
inur, i have to disagree with you their, your handlebar set-up can be extremly important!!!! and i have had bad wrists with the use of flat wing bars before as well as many other friends of mine have too.so the set-up of your bike is just as important as anything, wearing a helmet Until you have been there and experienced the problems with wrists, ankles etc and had professional advise off a physio then you sort of get the jist of what needs to happen.Waynio......................... poopipe
lonsdale ones i where there good as they fit under your gloves cheap but do the jobagreed - I have those ones. they're not very restrictive and they're cheap (check the sizes of both though - i got two packs in a row where the supports were different sizes from each other)I usually wear them for a few weeks after a sprained wrist - they won't prevent anything impact related happening but they do give you a bit of extra support if you're weakened. What I meant was that if he's only got problems with one of his wrists, it can't possibly be the handlebar setup. Maybe I'm missing something, but if your handlebars are at a strange angle, you'll have pains in both your wrists?
Rusevelt
You could invest in a Powerball (www.powerballs.com) to develop more powerful wrist action. its basically a plastic gyro ball the size of a cricket ball, which you use your wrist action to generate G-forces and effective making it harder for you to hold on to it. the faster you get the powerball spinning, the harder it progressively becomes to maintain control. notice results in 2weeks of everyday use. about £25 but a mate of mine once told me of a place to get them for a £5. ill update this info if and when i find out. TrashZen
agreed - I have those ones. they're not very restrictive and they're cheap (check the sizes of both though - i got two packs in a row where the supports were different sizes from each other)I usually wear them for a few weeks after a sprained wrist - they won't prevent anything impact related happening but they do give you a bit of extra support if you're weakened.I used that kind of stuff temporarily after a splitted scaphoide screwed back together... but it is not good for long term use...The best I found was Fox Gloves with an integrated wrist strap that is soft but really prevents you from flexing your wrist over the limit (i.e hurting yourself)Had them for over a year, really comfy too, and don't feel sore between the thumb and index like most other supports do after a while.Found them by luck in a dirt/bmx shop (Billies) Edited May 4, 2007 by TrashZen
