Tomm
So I was out riding in Manchester this evening and I began to get a funny feeling in my cranks. Something just wasn't quite right - I thought my cranks were loose or something. So I have a look and there's a crack. From a to b in this picture: Except it's all the way around the downtube --> bb shell --> round back of seat tube --> BB shell on the other side. It's not small either:The weird thing is that I'd looked in that area for cracks about a week ago (there's a scratch just next to this crack that looks a bit like a crack, so I'd specifically looked). It's also got a crack in the toptube (at the headtube) that's been there for over a year and hasn't got any bigger. Anyway, RIP Ashton ET

Luke Rainbird
RIP Mr Ashton (of the non-Martyn variety, of course...)Sucks dude, got anything else lined up?
Tomm
No, money is tight at the moment. Might get a 24UK if it comes down to it, but not sure I can afford that. I might look at getting a cheap 26" frame and building that up if I can't raise the cash for a
Brian Bleech
Gutted for you dude - I have two broken ones in my shed (one isn't mine)! That one lasted a fair while though
poopipe
it'll be fine - just get a couple of big ol' jubilee clips wrapped round it and tape up the gaps.
Gandalf the Yellow
unlucky....replacing frame is always a pain, its costly, and might never find the right geo/weight again!!steve
Tomm
unlucky....replacing frame is always a pain, its costly, and might never find the right geo/weight again!!steveI'm more and more tempted to just get a 24UK 'cos it will just be exactly the same geo, give or take. Only problem is they've gone up quite a bit and I'm not sure I can afford a new one. Hmmmph.
poopipe
You could probably work some of it off by babysitting - I'm facking shattered and I haven't already got one of the little rotters running around to deal with on top of the baby. Tomm
When were those frames made? It looks awesome.CheersThey were (I think) the first 24" frames available, designed by Eddie Tongue for Ashton. I believe they stopped making them some time around 1-2 years ago, I might be wrong on that.
