Just wondering who thinks we should have images in our sigs.

I'd quite like the idea of seeing a quick snapshot of everyones bikes at the bottom of their posts, bit more colour to liven the place up a bit. I reckon if they were kept to a smaller size as well it would be enough to be nice to look at but not over-imposing. Now most computer screens nowadays are 1024x768 and above, so a little picture of like 400-500 pixels wide, and say 60-80 pixels high isn't going to be obtrusive.

Now i know the mods/admins won't like the idea of having loads of images that they would potentially have to keep an eye as it means more work. But it's be so much cooler!!!

Anyways, put down what you think here.

Yeah i think it would be a good idea, As long as there were restriction on how big a picture had to be, Or an automatic resizer when you upload a "Signature Picture", and there should be restrictions on what they are i.e: Alloud, Your bike, A picture of yourself or a picture of your car? Not alloud: Random emoticon type things or say a lady with her baps out? I know you can Just go onto profiles and look at personal photos etc, But its much easier not to have to wait for another page to load when you can have a quick look the same page.

So aslong as people stuck to the rules i think it would be a great idea persoanlly, The best idea would be to have the as said, Weekly trial, Just to see how things go and to see if people stuck to the rules, If people don't stick to the rules they could have there 'signature picture' privelages removed?

Well that's my view on the matter in hand, Alan. :)

Having seen how pikey it makes all the car forums people link to look - hell no! Not to mention it just makes the site look cluttered, as you pointed out it's another thing we have to watch out for, and most of them would look utter shite anyway. After the second or third time you'd seen

avatarum7.jpg

after every post I'd made you'd want to kill me, and then everyone elses works of art (shite) after their posts too, it'd get really old, really fast.

Judging from how people can completely balls up signatures as they are, I don't think that allowing people even more creative freedom with them would be a good idea.

Edit: added in mock signatures to people's posts to give an idea of what it'd be like. Ish.

I'm on another forum, where they have picture sigs. About 500 members, and about 20 moderators just for checking signature sizes.

f**k that.

Sigs off *** anyway. I don't really care if you like select/tarty bikes, it's great that you support them, doesn't mean I need to be told you do every time you post. Having a blinking image every time you post would serve only to piss me off more. And as much as I like poopipe, and the frankly genius things he comes up with, I don't want to read another one of his quotes, especially all over a picture! [/rant]

So i'm the only one who thinks a small picture would be tidier than the multipl stretched quote marks people use for msn conversations. Of which half the time the conversation is utter shit :S

Wheeey, I got a piss and you all got immature poop's haha

But seriously, Ok no cars, But for bikes? Considering its a bike forum, Like a picture:

______________

|_____________ <--- That big, Then if you thought it looked interesting could click it to open up a new screen with the full size picture?

Mark, A. There not pictures, B. The colours wouldnt be as bright. :)

Mark, they'd blatantly get removed... no swearing :P

Something like that though, maybe a full bike shot, and slightly smaller in height/width. With a border too.

I know people's bikes are getting longer and lower all the time, but good luck getting a full bike shot in that size.

Either way, do people need to see your bike every time you post? If people want to check bikes out, there's a whole sub-forum dedicated to it.

I know that's just continuing along the bike pics theme, but even if it's other stuff, the pros don't outweigh the cons for me.

I agree a lot of quotes are stupid, but how exactly would having pictures help this? It would just be another opportunity for people to share stuff I don't care about / showoff.

But it could be condensed, where as the quotes can be pretty much as long as someone wants them to be. Having the msn screennames and all sorts of shit, then having the useless conversation as well.

Oakleys signature is huge, though quite good. but you can fit more in a picture and havign a size limit keeps it tidier than having as many lines of super size quote boxes as you like.

Signatures can only be 500 characters long, so they won't always be super long. A size limit on font type would probably be a better solution if people think that their friend saying "lol" on MSN is worthy of a size 14 typeface.

Avatars are the area for you to go nuts with pictures - maybe slightly larger avatars would be the way instead of needing to represent yourself pictorially and verbally at least twice in every post you make?

Some people just need the attention

Bigger avatars *** though. That'd be cool. Maybe then we'd be able to make out what people are doing in some of these images.

I vote for sigs to be gone compleltely.

Pictures would be terrible. Msn convos arn't too bad because they're mainly just text, but full colour pictures.

It'd make a mess out of this place, just like OBM proved. Avatars are more than enough and I'd kind of agree with JT that signatures should be removed as well - maybe just in the NMC for a start. There are a few pre-members who have signatures that are far more messy than what Mark put in this topic.

Pictures in sigs on ALL other forums I've seen look absolutely wank. It just makes it look too busy, if you're reading a thread it goes like a conversation, it should flow from post to post just like a conversation does in real life. Think of it like this, if Bill and Ted did their little air guitar bit after everything they said think how annoying it would be!

I honestly don't see the point anyway, Avatars have a purpose; to show instantly who you are by picture association, but having an image other than that every single time you post is just over cooking it if you ask me. If people want to express themselves then lets have an "express yourself with pictures" thread so people can post a pic once and everyone can laugh at how witty it is and we can all move on rather than having that picture shoved down our throats every time that person makes a post!

That be Davey's two cents!

Davey

I aint fussed really. It would be nice yes. But i go on 4 other forums and 3 of them allow pictures in sig's. They also have BIGGER avatars, by which i am talking about this big:

____________

I personally like the look of large avatars and pictures in sigs. I think it brings abit of life to forums.

We've been campaigning to allow Seniors to have bigger avatars for a while, like f**k are normal members going to get that opportunity too. :P

Think that's the best way, higher and possible 10px wider avatars, looking at the space left around the current limits.

Why should seniors get them and not normal members? last time i checked trials-shack was dead so now you need to be demoted? >_<
