Reece B
hey all, well first off thought i might try and explain my hope mono trials problem. was riding home today and i pulled the leaver and the it clicked, thought nothing of it until it kept doing it every time i pulled the leaver. ive had a look at the pads, to see if the where seated properly and they were fine. cant work out it is:S all the bolts are done up tight as i checked them yesterday.my other problem is my wheel seem to be eating inner tubes, ive gone through about 3 so far in under a month. the tubes either get a rip or a snake bite on the in side of the tube, the spokes are fine theres none sticking out, not that i can see. all i can think is that dirt and stones have got under the rim tape and rubbing on the tube:S any ideas people? ilikeriding
Remove the dirt and stones, try two layers of rim tape? or better tyres. My brake does that, i just left it, works fine.oh yes and 3 a month isnt too bad, i was on 6 per week when i was running bald tyres, pump em up a bit, you cant expect much less if your rimming when you land ect.. PaRtZ
punctures, im presuming pinches? Best option is try different tyres, should cure it straight awayas for the hope, hmmm sticky piston?
Reece B
well i cant see it being the tyres, as the the punctures are on the inside of the tube,as for the hope, i duno. was sent back to hope, about 3 months ago. so i hope its not a sticky piston.ill just see how things go.cheers any way, Reece
lankyri
hang on reece dont you have a BALD rear tire anyway that may the problem there mate, although you dont have holes in your rims there may be a thorn or something still in your rim/tire. i would just get some new rim tape i had loads on my old wheel didnt help that half my spokes could easily pinch the tube but thats all sorted now GET A NEW TIRE or stick your front on the rear and il give you half decent front one if you like for a small fee off a pack of ten fags sorted

Dani.
Yeah, I've had the same problem with my front hope, it is actually caused by a sticky piston even if it doesn;t really feel like it. What I did was take the wheel out, squeeze the lever so that the sides of the pistons are showing, take the brake pads out, squirt the outer part pf the cylindrical pistons on either side with some WD40, use a screw driver to pry them open again and repeat a few times. That worked for me both times just be careful to wipe your caliper after as for some reason no matter how careful you are, oil seems to be desperate to infect your pads and cripple their performance . Netherking
its my front tire any way rick, sorry to piss on your fire:P also its the IN SIDE OF THE TUBE! lol so its not the tire.. but if you had a new tyre with tread it would mean u wouldn't get the pinch flats! because more rubber means the inner tube protected better and has more cushsioning or get a dual ply inner tube??? python_man
What the fuk do you mean lol Inside the tube all punctures are in the tube. Or am i missing something here..im guessing he means the rim side of the tube.rim tape would need to be checked for pertrusions and you must check for dirt or glass or any other sharp crap.new tyre would be good. i was running a slick just changed much nicer. Reece B
ok ok, didnt explain my self to well, front tire got loads of tread left, its my rear that need replacing. didnt know how to explain the wheel side of the tube all abit confusing lol, cheers for the help any way
Tango
I think what he means is its bursting inbetween the two side walls of the rim nowhere newar the tyre so its probaly your rim tape. So take off the tyre and then replace the rim tape after you clean the rim then put it back on and walla should fix it.
darrenhopper
Are your clicks coming from the lever or the caliper?I had a click in one of my levers every time I squeezed. A shot of WD40 & a wiggle sorted it. As for the Tubes, if they're puncturing at the sidewalls then your tyres, or the air pressure you run in them, are probably to blame. Try running the front a bit harder & see what comes of it. Otherwise pick up a tire with stiffer sidewalls. If the punctures are along the rim tape then have a look for grit/glass in there. Also take a look at the length of your spokes & condition of your rim tape.edit: Also worth considering are DH tubes. Heavier but more reliable.
