Bleeding Syringe

N Roach

Recommended Posts

hey,

Tried bleeding my magura to day for the first time. I pulled the oil into the syringe as far as i could, and I got all the air bubbles out. Conected the bleeding adaptor to the cylinder and partly un-done the intrenal bolt in the lever, started bleeding but the syringe was not pushing much pressure of oil into the brake, then i sore that when I pushed the lever down on the syringe, the oil would creep past the seal. The syringe is brand new so it should do that i dont think, i was using dot 4, anyone now if there is anything I have done wrong?

cheers

Imo what your doing wrong is your not using a bath/bucket/sink and your not using water. Bleeding with a syringe is a blag and you get a better bleed doing it the other way in a bucket of water. And water has a better feel with it returning quicker as it is thinner, and water will not damage anything in the maggy like rusting or owt because its all plastic is the internals. Oil cost money water doesn't generally. Syringe costs you money your dads bucket doesn't lol

Get some mineral oil. - Halfords stuff will do, pretty much the same as 'Magura Royal Blood' without the fancy label.

Fill the syringe up with it, with the bleeding hose attached to it (barbed end in one side, syringe on the other)

and attach that to the bleeding cylinder. -Obviously take the 5mm bolt out first.

Once you've done that, get your 3mm(?) allen key, and take out the bleed bolt in the lever.

Unwind the TPA!

Then just pump the oil through, until you're happy that there's no air in there.

Then slowly pump it, and put the bleed bolt back in.

Then undo the syringe from the cylinder, and drip a bit of oil ontop. - Don't worry, with the bleed bolt done up in thr lever, it'll cause a vacuum, so all the oil will be held in, and no air can get in there.

Drip a bit of oil on the cylinder hole, and do the bolt back up.

You should be sorted.
