i use a panasonic lumix DMC-tz1. it's absolutly amazing. i use it for trials, cross country and a bit of downhill. A lot of my mates also use them. there cheap and i think are one of the best cameras around. i got mine for £150 of purelygadets. they are however £300 in the shop so i suggest you buy one on-line. they are 5 mega pixel and have 10 optical zoom they are absolutly amazing buy one.

There is a big difference between a Camera for stills and a camera for videos.

Im currently using a JVC Everio G cam corder. recording in Ultra fine mode i get about 4 and a half hours video footage on the inbuilt hard drive(no tapes/dvd's) and the video quality is pretty darn good. Altho this camera cost about £400.... so thats not much help.... but it may be great for video's it is a bit wank for normal pics, unfortunately.

Best kinda place to go is somewhere like Jessops, they should have someone that can talk you through a camera in your price range, for either stills or video.

Another idea is to just get a normal single-shot camera, with a video camera option built in. If you get a good deal they can be a couple of hundred pounds cheaper but have just as good quality, but don't have a sound recorder.

It depends what you want it for- If you want to make a bike video, it is most likely that you are going to put background music when you edit it. Whats the point of sound when all you pick up is the clinking of your chain and a couple of laughs from one of your mates when you pull a faceplant?

If this camcorder is for other general use then you probably want some sound. Don't want another one of those Charlie Chaplin episodes.

Happy filming! :turned:
