When my New hub shell arrives ill be changing all the internals over, I need advise on how to do it. Step by step guide would be nice. Also what lube to use? Oil or grease? Is there anything I should look out for, as in damage to the pawls / springs

Thanks!

Matt Gibson

are u recieving the hub back from hope?

hopes are a peice of piss, pull the freehub body out, switch the pawls and springs over, and put the pawls and springs back in, then slide the freehub body back in.

i run my hope dry, but alot of people use GT85 etc to lubricate them.

not really, my local hope dealer runs his hopes dry, is he an idiot also?

Well I'd call him an idiot. All wearing surfaces need some lubrication, just because thinner oil is better than thicker oil, it doesnt follow that none at all is even better.

Its like the water bleed argument with maggies, i use 3 in 1 while servicing my hope xc on my jump bike, but for the miles i cover on my trials bike, ide rather have my hub engage better than last a little longer but slip.

Listen to yourself speak....

Of course you need lube in their, it won't skip and definetly will make it last longer.

I'm a Hope dealer so I'M TELLING YOU..... lube it or lose it.

Don't be a noob and listen to advise when it's given.

Plus Hope will notice that it is dry and will charge you for any replacement parts when servicing as you have have obviously been playing around with the internals.

It's sealed for a reason!

Its sealed to keep crap out, im sure hope would charge me for spare parts while servicing anyway. bearing in mind my hub is about 2 and a half years old on the original ratchet and free hub body.
