Matthew_Gibson
When my New hub shell arrives ill be changing all the internals over, I need advise on how to do it. Step by step guide would be nice. Also what lube to use? Oil or grease? Is there anything I should look out for, as in damage to the pawls / springsThanks! ScotchDave
Either thin grease or thickish oil for lube, if you're not confident removing bearings etc from hub shells go see your LBS, if you are the technical drawings on the hope website should do the trick. dave85
not really, my local hope dealer runs his hopes dry, is he an idiot also?Well I'd call him an idiot. All wearing surfaces need some lubrication, just because thinner oil is better than thicker oil, it doesnt follow that none at all is even better. Ash-Kennard
exactly, metal on metal need lubrication to prevent it from wearing away. hence greasing bbs etc
Broomer
Its like the water bleed argument with maggies, i use 3 in 1 while servicing my hope xc on my jump bike, but for the miles i cover on my trials bike, ide rather have my hub engage better than last a little longer but slip. ScotchDave
Yeah, but thin oil will not interfere with the engagement AT ALL, it's too thin to do so, so there's no point in not running it.
