Echo Forged Cranks....yay Or Neigh?

Square tapers are bellends. And so is having no money. My bottom bracket has completely rounded off, and my cranks don't look like they're far behind. I've tried threadlock and the coke can bodge, but neither worked very well. I have to carry an 8mm round with meand tighten my cranks every 5 minutes, and I'm about ready to commit myself.

Tarty Adam tells me the Echo forged cranks for £50 are pretty decent, but having searched round on here, it looks like loads of people have stripped threads and what have you in them, so I'm not sure. So, I was thinking a gigapipe BB, those cranks and a 74Kingz bash. Having looked at my budget, Middleburns seem a bit...out of it.

So what would people generally recommend? Gigapipe/Echo Forged/Whatever bash is decent and will fit, or find some decent condition second hand middleburns?

Hey,

I have had my echo 6061 forged cranks (160 ISIS), for a month and they are great, no problems what so ever.

Im running the gigapipe 127.5 mm BB aswell, had no problems with that. I had to get the longer length because I got a FFW. (Do they do two lengths or not?)

Im not sure on the bash, I'd ring tarty and see if it will fit. Ive got the echo silver 18t bash and its fine, like any other GU, adamant bash, works with those cranks well.

I have the 160mm square taper versions and my mate has the 170mm ISIS versions, no problems for either of us so far, I found them to be quite a lot lighter than my musclemans and the set up on the same bb seems much stiffer.

I would say yay, but lots of people have had problems with them. I just check mine are tight but not over tight before each ride.
