mr_malcolm
i was out on a ride ages ago when my freewheel started skipping and i was thinking oh great a new one is neededso i look around decide i want a new tensile one but having no money have had to put it on hold.so i started riding my bmx more often and pretty much stoped riding trials.but today i though u know what il get the onza out for a bit, get rid of the cob-webs sort of thing.and i was waiting for it to skip every time i was about to do a drop.but to my supprise it didnt skip once on an hour ride tonight.so its got me puzzled.it might just be in a good mood because i gave it a wash and a little bit of a servicebut hey i dont really know.all i know is i can go riding for a bit again. well until it skips on me next then il probally give it a rest for a while again.so im in a good mood does any on else notice there bikes are tempermental at times?cheers lovelove

RR_Trials
Mine used to skip once a week untill it gave in. It was very random as it wouldn't happen that often and it varied on the things i could be doing, sometimes a backwheel or just a crank hop of a curb Crazy. omgnoseat
haha i've had this with alot of things;- Freewheel: sometimes it just keeps skipping, like once every 5min, then i go for a ride the other day and its absolutely perfect- Fork: sometimes they are loose like f*ck (like today) which is very annoying, while they are quite stiff the other day- Stem: just keeps making annoying clicking sounds for a few days, then stops for a day, and goes on after that day for a while againI never buy new parts so it's not weird that they're doing this

Luano
if you have washed it you might have washed any oil or grease out so now its less likely to skip but it wont be as smoooooth

Its just went. You can get a cheap freewheel for a 10er so don't give up trials just because you cant afford a tensile Rorz.

mr_malcolm
what do you mean by skip sometimes its a stiky chainhmmmdo u ride trials?im pretty sure every one that has ever ridden trials has experianced a freewheel skipping at the occasional time.its where it doesnt connect with one of the points of engagement inside and there you go to for example kick hopand you give it a kick and the cranks go round but the freewheel doesnt engage therefore causing you to go nowhere.this in mycase always ends up in me having to jump of because it throws you off balance normally.or at least it does for me
JT!
Is the lockring tight? If not, tighten it, then it wont skip as much. I find that parts creak more in cold weather. All i know it my profile has never skipped.

robster
The only thing that lets me down every time I ride is my old joints
T_PRO
Sometimes my freewheel comes loose, so I just tighten it up again and it is fine. The other day it completely fell apart, mainly because I tightened my chain too much and it must have worked the freewheel loose, all the inside bits of the freewheel came out and got lost in the process, so I have to get a new freewheel now.
