andyb
Er nope.Shall i call the authorities or will you go quietly?Andy
basher
It wouldn't be worth the hassle of getting them to work together and plus disc brakes these days are more than good enough and so are maggies with a good set of pads. Theres no need plus it extra weight and one more thing to leak and brake.
matt rushton
I suppose it may work if you get a magura disc drake and a magura rim brake and a monty splitter.Matt Rushton
Alexxx
Because then you'd have two pistons being powered by one lever, and you would have to have each brake set up so the pads would hit at the exact same timeso it just wouldn't work and you'd have half the power
basher
Er nope.Shall i call the authorities or will you go quietly?AndyBit harsh int it that, hes only putting a idea accross, if it wernt for crazy ideas technolgy ect would never advance or at least at not as fast a pace. Adam-Griffin
i know but if you had the of a disk brake and the hold of a magura then youde be laughing and IMO it makes sense for any bike manufac6tuere to give it a try and see how it goes ??Adam
Walleee
Trials riders would never buy it, too heavy.
Adam-Griffin
ok then what if magura started making brakes out of carbon fibre which is 3X ;lighter and stronger than steel people would but it !Adam
andyb
No because carbon cracks too easy.Andy
basher
you think that's harsh??Do you live in bubblewrap? No but whats the point in just trying to put someone down why not just tell them why it wouldn't work and actually contribute instead of trying to belittle someone. Alexxx
It doesn't matter if it's heavy or not, it would take so long to set up. And it would just be stupid

dave85
It has been done before, and it did work, lots of modulation and a nice lock, but it had all the downsides. You still had to keep the rim clean and true, and the disc could still be clouted on a rock. Plus it weighed, or felt to weigh, a lot more than you'd imagine. Adam-Griffin
dont suppose the person that did it was a TF user was he if not do you have any details for him as i would like to try this and see waht happens to stop all of the insult etc lol also do you know what 2 brakes he was runnig at the time ??Adam
Ash-Kennard
ffs, when does a 203 bb7 not hold anyway
dave85
He is/was a user, Ryan is his name on here I think. It was a hell of a long time ago he did this, he used a magura louise caliper and hs33 slaves and lever. To give you an idea of just how "good" it was, it lasted about a week and he scrapped the idea.
Anjow
Wouldn't you have to pull the lever twice as far to get both sets of pads to engage? While we're in the mood of throwing overkill braking solutions about, why not have several sets of maguras on one wheel. Or just weld the wheel so it can't spin. Edited April 21, 2007 by Anjow

Concussion
Your idea is a bit mad, but I like hearing about crazy ideas... let them out I say. Anyone remember that freehub rim combo thing I came up with?...that double maggie brake thing is so silly IMO, I like seeing it, but jesus christ! basher
Or just weld the wheel so it can't spin. May be you should put abit more thought into that comment. It would be rather hard to get around dont you think.
andyb
The way that double maggie is set up would mean that all four pistons move at different times! How shit.Im with ash, most modern discs have masses of hold, only the worlds best riders can push them to the limits.Andy
