dave85 Posted April 16, 2007 Report Share Posted April 16, 2007 If you look at the point the crack started from, its a very sharp change in section. Sharp corners magnify the stress in the material so its very common to see failures like that. Think about snapped spokes, most of the ones I've seen have gone at the bend for the head rather than halfway up the spoke at its thinnest point.
