bob87
A swift kick to the ribs usually alleviates this problem.I know what your talking about though, it pisses me off too, you can explain as much as you want but they always think they are right, more than likely making you resort to my problem solver above. Ross McArthur
i found that winning there appreciation by doing something on my bike that is immpressive usually shuts them up because they prob coulnt pull a wheelie.
ManxTrialSpaz
You should have asked for a ruler and measured up your bb for him. That'd shut him up

RobinJI
I know what you mean. It piss's me off. But I've been on the other end of the line before. When I worked in tri-uk (triathlon shop) a guy came in with an ultegra STI lever which had the computer cable inside it snapped and said it had just happened by itself and he wanted to get a new one. I started to explain you couldn't get the cable separately, but that it was alright, because unless he wanted a computer with a gear read out it really wouldn't matter. To which the guy said 'can I speak to a mechanic' I was just astounded, I'd just explained the internals of probably the most complicated part of a road bike to him, and had stopped building a wheel to help him, and was stood in the workshop? Who else did he think the mechanic was? Even after I said I was the only one for the day he insisted to see someone else, just because I was too young. willy.Anyway, yeah, just start confusing the tits off him until he realises you know a lot more about it than him. Like say, no, a BB that long wouldn't fit in my frame safely and would throw out the chain line, and start explaining about how the rotational shear stress on the BB axle would be increased by the length of the BB. Sounds like even that would confuse him.
