ruption0
me and a friend was riding slowy on the pavement when we my friend was stopped by a community officer and i was behind him. He tried scaring us with a £30 pound fine for riding on a path where as a family friend qualifieid police officer told us that it is fine to ride a bike on the pavement as long as the rim is below 20 inches. He was constantly saying we were giving him attitude because when he said for us to stop he said "oy you" and my friend asked "me..?" and he said "no the person behind you..." so my friend looks round to me because i was behind him. Now i dont know about you but i think that is a mistake not attitude.
Simon
20" inch rule is bollocks.Say it by all means, as they may not know different, but the law says nothing about the size of bikes. It simply says if your under 16 then your exempt.
PaRtZ
20" inch rule is bollocks.im sure theres a joke to be had there.... i just wouldnt give them cheek just get away from them as soon as possible. what i cant stand is the way some of them treat me like a chav, and "OI you!" is one of those phrases that winds me up. I ALWAYS ignore that...

trials rules
Does a community support officer have the power to issue fines? I thought that's what police were for..
craigjames
Does a community support officer have the power to issue fines? I thought that's what police were for..yes they do have the power and yes they do use it as lots of my mates in pompey have found out several times, somehow ive managed to avoid it theres no way to 'blag' your way out of it unless your under 16. just be polite, apologise and move on, if your just riding around and not actually hopping all over the surrounding walls and benches they 'usuaually' let you off; just dont try to be rude or cheeky or your asking to be fined.to tom: sorry mate but you really do put a load of misinformed useless posts up, not saying all of them are, but the majority. you complain about mockery but if you dont give people anything to mock you about they cant do it. just think about what your posting.
