Bt Raven 7.0 - Anyone?

Recommended Posts

Evening.

My bikes got to the point where i need to pretty much replace all of it, and i've got my eyes on this new Raven. In white of course.

Anyway, has anyone actually ridden one? I've not seen one anywhere. :S

Also, with 20mm bottom bracket rise, do i need a higher stem as well?

i personally don't like the ravens si, but if you can get over how they look then yeah they do ride alright. although the one i breifly rode was a short (sam thaites') one. i personally think you would be better off on a short/long control, much better looking and have and awesome reputation for not breaking

NOt sure how they ride but my mate has one, Ask ALEX in the NMC hes got a red one, got it the other day. I'm going to head out this weekend and have a ride on it. They look ok, bit boring though. The 6.0 rides allright, cant say im a fan of higher bb's though.

Yeah and they may break, alex has broke like 2, the 5.0 and 6.0, already, so the new 7.0 will be his third i think.

Is it not almost exactly the same as a Control, which everyone bums the hell out of? :S

Wheelbase: 1055-1085mm adjustable

Chainstay Length: 370-385mm (with rim brake), 365-395mm (with disk brake).

BB Rise: 20mm

Head Angle: 72 degrees

Centre of BB shell to top centre of head tube: Estimated 660mm (26")

Wheelbase: Short 1060mm, Long 1080mm

Chainstay Length: 375mm

BB Rise: 20mm

Head Angle: 72 degrees

Centre of BB shell to top centre of head tube: Short 655mm (25.75"), Long 675mm (26.5")

Zona? The pitbull copy one? f**k that, that thing looks aweful. If you mean another one, what one? Don't keep up with that shit to much.

I don't want high bottom bracket though, 20mm is my limit, having ridden high bottom brackets, and my 0 rise, i genuinely believe 20mm is just about perfect.

yeah he meant the zenith i believe. sorry to semi hijack the thread, im lookin for a frame of the same sort at the mo myself. apart from the bt7, what frames are there witha 1060 or under (short) wb with 10-20mm bb rise with a decent disc mount i want to go dual disc.

and what exactly is wrong with the bt, i think it looks nice, the tensioner looks great and the geo appears for what i'd want, spot on.

Ive got a dirty great big hate for bt, when there frame broke in 3 weeks i took pics of it then they had the cheek to say "thats only small so no danger"

there bikes ride like upsidedown spanners, they also look like upsidedown spanners.

and juding from that email, its ran by spanners.

if anyone chose one over a control, id not best pleased.

Think you may be right with the control.

Shame its exactly not what i want a bike too look like. May have to look at getting it sprayed or something.

Dave, out of interest, where did your 7 crack?

I was saying I agree with you :P

How do you classify short though? I mean, 1065 (KOT) is probably short by today standards. But when I measured my Orange Zero a few years back, that was 1010 with a rear disc!

The new ashton frame has a rear disc mount, as does the Zhi frame. But I'm unsure on the geometry of either of them.

I can't beleive you guys don't like the look of the Raven 7.0! I think it looks awesome, but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder :)

This is true... although I think disc mounts should be categorised:

Disc mounts, and disc mounts that are actually usable and not just a waste of aluminium! (KOT, Simtra and MBK of recent frames off the top of my head.)

LOL. Very True.

And you can remove the Orange Zero from that category. I broke those mounts off FAR too many times.

haha ok sorry, well put it this way ive had a pashley ghz and since that got stolen and 06 saracen super team pro thingy both about 1040 wb and 0/+10 bb so short and low, i dont think i could get used to a bike over 1065mm. think i might have to save for a bt, as no one else is making frames with that sorta geo and discs :(
