PaRtZ
Its been naggine me since the moment I knew what it was: Whats brackety about it? Don't understand the logic sometimes......
Broomer
its a bracket which fixes something to the frame, and its at the bottom?
PaRtZ
THATS a bracketits like calling a steerer tube a front bracket
spmcfadden
A bracket fixes two things together (like the above photo) so fixing the cranks to the axle it’s like a bracket.A headset being a set of separate bearings and cups at the head seems more obviously named. eskimo
But on a trials bike if it's not a seat tube what is it?
spmcfadden
Always used to have the seat there so has always been called a seat tube.If you look sideways at a frame it is like a quadrilateral - top tube, down tube, chain stay and seat stay, then without the seat tube the frame would flex a lot. The seat tube stops that happening, so you could call the seat tube a bracing member, like in steel buildings. If you had a square shape made of steel beams and pushed on one corner then it would deform, but putting in diagonal beams connecting the opposite corners (so is a square with a cross in the middle) then that stops it happening. Like in a frame the seat tube stops the top half of the bike squashing down.I vote for just calling it a seat tube!
gilly
I think everyone should just have trials bikes with seats then the issue would never come up! (and people would be more comfy)
